Help: Appeals

If you believe that your post was wrongfully deleted, then you may appeal using the site's built-in appeals system. If you're only looking for more information about why your post was deleted and are not actually contesting, then please instead contact the staff member who deleted your post directly (see below).

If you haven't read the uploading guidelines before posting, then do so before attempting to appeal. Appeals for obvious guideline violations may be summarily rejected.

Who can appeal what

If a deleted post shows an appeal button at the top, next to the deletion message, then you can appeal.
More specifically:

  • A user can appeal a deletion of any of their uploads, except for takedowns.
  • A director can also appeal a deletion of any post they are tagged on, uploader or not, as long as they are verified. They can also appeal takedowns.
  • A deletion can only be appealed once.

How to appeal

If you received a deletion notification DMail, then use the appeal link within. If you did not receive one or the link doesn't work, then use the button on the post mentioned above. Fill in the form and include all relevant information. You can't edit an appeal after submitting, so be sure to review before sending it in.

Once you're done, just wait and you will receive a DMail with an update or a verdict. You may also view the status of your appeal by clicking the button on the related post, or visiting the appeals page. We can't guarantee appeal processing times, but it should take at most a few days (very much case dependent). If the appeal is approved, then the post will be undeleted. If instead it's rejected, then the post will simply remain deleted.

How to contest a rejected appeal

If you're unsatisfied about how your appeal was handled, then you may escalate by contacting an administrator via DMail. Please note that appeal decisions made by staff vote are final.

Do not reupload a deleted post.

Who to contact about your appeal

Don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything you need help with. If your appeal has a user shown in the "Claimed By" field, then send them a DMail. Otherwise contact the staff member who deleted your post. You can find who that is in the deletion notification or in the post's deletion message. If for whatever reason neither option works, then you may contact any other staff, preferably a janitor.
