Topic: Hello everyone! We have a very important announcement for you all.

The only thing that worries me is... "Donate to keep the lights on!". I hope these people have a good funding plan and don't just hope to run this on donations alone...

Yeah, I do like the cut of their jib but the whole small, non-profit organization thing feels a bit iffy from the perspective of actually staying afloat in the long run.
Although being non-profit doesn't automatically have to mean there's not enough income to support Blep. I don't know these guys, I have no idea were they get their money from.

I'm still thankful we even get the chance to continue, of course.

Let them cry to each other. Realistically speaking they have little to no control over something that's another's property in the first place, or now. The most they can do is rant on the internet like good little crybully basement dwellers.

And for those who'll gripe - yes I know more than a few legitimate artists personally. They have varied opinions about AI art but none are the type to insist that their perspective is the only one to be had.

To my understanding the whole group is crowdfunded, but that's its safety mechanism. If it wasn't open-resourced in such a manner others would insist on this way or that way or no more green - just like BD/Fruit would/did.

It's not strictly a 'gibs me' culture thing, though... at least that's my read. It's more 'we have something good going, please contribute to help it stay going', much like any uToob content creator that isn't beholden to the algorithm.

Yes I saw someone ask a similar question on the discord server and there is a forum post answering this - https://blep.art/forum_topics/1205

Well, what did you expect?

I find it amusing how they still try to fight against it.
That made me chuckle a bit:

anti-AI specialists

In combination with:

e621 allows AI-assisted art!

Ouch...
But I don’t want to stir anything up. We should just leave them alone and let them do their own thing.

I don't follow any drama or controversies because I have better things to do in my life, but if I understand the situation correctly - a group of angry people wanted the e621 owners (the Bad Dragon company) to shut down e6ai. And because they wanted to avoid being the "bad guy supporting art theft" and what not and saw it as something that could potentially hurt them financially, they were forced to do so.

So, the angry crowd inevitably ripped the power over (arguably) the best generative AI furry art site from the people aligned with their cause (as this site was created to have the main site clean from AI generated images) and handed it over to their "enemy" completely for free. What a genius move.

Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

Blep is a great fork, if they can keep it going then that would solve this crisis very smoothly.

What horrible news. All the wonderful artists on this website have been a great little ray of sunshine over the years, and it would be absolutely awful to know their work could have vanished just like that, with an angry mob and a flip of the switch. Thank you so much to everyone who has stepped in to help.

To sum up, we've got:

Blep.art - A new site that will inherit all posts and all staff from E6AI, already working as smoothly as if nothing even happened. MakeFox, from what I know, are veterans in the field and know what they're doing, and seem genuinely interested in furry philanthropy. Truly amazing.

An unnamed project by tyto4tme4l - We know nothing about this one except it's been in development for a while and it seems at least as ambitious as the one above. Tyto4tme4l is one of my favorite artists, so I wish him the best. <3

Pawbooru - A booru that's apparently been around for a long time and quietly doing their own thing. Not as famous or as active E6AI, but it's a good site that works well, and their posting policy is much more permissive. Unlike the other two sites, this one probably won't re-upload posts form E6AI.

Honorable mentions to InkBunny, Tantabus, CivitAI and DeviantArt, which all allow hosting your own art - but with some nasty caveats and restrictions.

Thank you to all the wonderful artists who made my day a little brighter in these trying times. Y'all are the real ones. See you on the other side.

Aw, thank you! My project is going along nicely. Not many major things left, the main bottleneck is importing and processing the rest of the images from e6ai, but it's moving swiftly.

I'm happy that e6ai is preserved in the form of blep.art, and more alternatives are being developed. It's ironic that a move that was going to kill e6ai caused even more AI-centric boorus to spring up.

Basically, you swat a beesnest thats minding its own buisness with a stick, your going to get stung.
Couldnt happen to a more deserving faction.

I suppose you can scrape blep.art now that they've already copied over everything from over here, so there's no rush.

This website is literally the best furry one... better than rule34.(whatever). And it basically replaced cornhub at least for me. It's sad that safe heaven for Ai art will be no more T_T I know that all good things come to and end but this is just painful.
p.s. Only cause of this website I found Suno... some music there is better than all I ever heard. One particular song about Mal0 made me cry. Voice and lyrics were incredible.

I enjoy this community so much, that's the biggest loss for me.

Me too! I've had an absolute blast commenting on tons of art here and communicating with others through comments and replies. This is a really positive, great community and I hope we can stick together and move into the new site. This is hands down the best furry art porn site I've ever found in my past 10+ years of searching for the best furry porn on planet earth. So much of the hand drawn stuff on other sites just isn't very good and you have to pour through pages of crap to find okay things here and there. The amazing quality of the AI art I've found here has blown my mind for the past few years.

Sad to see it close down, was nice to see some quality AI gens here.

Important announcement

Hello e6ai, Jello here, your friendly admin.
I want to start by saying, from the entirety of the e6ai staff: Thank you so very much. Thank you for all the incredible art. Thank you for all the amazing interactions. Thank you for all the positivity and love.

For years, I've been at the helm of this site and I've seen it grow and evolve into something much bigger than I think it was ever expected to become. A thriving community of people with a shared passion for AI-generated artwork that really pushed the boundaries of what the technology can do in terms of artistic expression.

With that said, it is with a very heavy heart that I must announce that Dragon Fruit LLC will be shutting down the site on November 13th.
I'm sure many of you feel sad and shocked by this news. I empathize completely with that sentiment.
The staff feels just as rug-pulled, but in the end we have no say when the corporate entity that keeps the lights on makes a decision.

From now until the site's closing, you will no longer be able to upload any content to the site.
I recommend reaching out to the people you want to stay in contact with, save your favourite art locally and feel free to join the discord that will remain as its own entity independent of the site.

From the bottom of my heart, I will miss you all. Thanks again for all the good times ❤️

Womp womp

I still don't get why this is happening. Why is an entire website being shut down because of "social media backlash" ? AI slop is already banned from e621, and now we've made our own separate website...but that's not good enough? we're not allowed to have our own space? I don't get it.

What "backlash" even is there? Just don't visit the site if you don't like it lmao

Users of e621 on bluesky organized a coordinated effort to make artist aware of Dragonfruit's (parent company for e621, Bad Dragon, e6ai, f-list, and possibly other sites that I'm not aware of) ownership of e6ai along side encouragement to request a take down of all their artwork and to be placed on e621's do not post list. It gained significant enough traction that previous statements, likely along side current renewed pushes by e621 staff, convinced Dragonfruit that it was no longer worth maintaining. Especially as AI has gotten increasingly controversial since they initially launched the site.

Even so, to use a quote, "You can't stop the signal."
E6ai might be on its way out but it now lives on in blep.art, and is beyond the reach of those that started this.

Oarebt

Former Staff

IMPORTANT : Do not go over blep.art.
MakeFox decided to be a dictator and not negotiate anything with the staff and have blocked all original e6ai staff to be able to connect.

We have no idea what they will try to do next.

You should delete your account if you has created one as well over there.
I doubt they will do anything with that, but to be safe.
Best to join the discord for more info.

blep.art will take its place as we still need an outlet to share ai art...

Oarebt

Former Staff

Don't go on blep.art, it got taken over by the MakeFox dictator, deleted and banned all staff member.
If you want continue with the e6ai community, join the Discord.

Here's what they said:

The short and genuine version: MakeFox Group has certain expectations of control over its products and services, both for brand-management reasons and because of civil liability. The previous moderation team, who came over from e6ai, were understandably very emotionally tied to the site after all their hard work curating it, and their expectation was full autonomy over the site's content and moderation practices.

Despite negotiation and internal mediation, we were unable to reach an agreement that satisfied both teams. Since MakeFox Group owns the domain, the site and the infrastructure, the two teams have parted ways, and MakeFox Group will handle moderation directly for now. We're grateful for the work the previous team put in, and we're bringing on new moderators.
What this means for you

Your account, your uploads, the tags and the post history are all safe. Nothing is being deleted.
For a while, submission reviews and account issues may take longer than usual. These delays are temporary.
Comments and forum posting are paused while the new team gets set up. They'll reopen soon.
No one should expect any policy or process changes at this point, unless one is driven by an emergency business issue.

We'll post further updates here as things settle.

I don't think they'll delete their accounts because of internal problems. And calling on people to avoid the site now is, in my opinion, the same behavior as with e621.

Why don't you learn anything? It's just sad...

Well, this is awkward. In any case, I estimate that the import of e6ai's content to my site will finish in around 24 hours. Due to these dramatic circumstances with blep.art, I think I'll make the announcement and invite people to register on Sunday.

MakerFox took crowdfunded monies raised in desperation to carry on a community then forced out the folks who fought like hell to see it happen because they refused to sign draconian legal documents that removed any ability to alter or question the direction the site takes.

Sometimes a moral stand is justified, and there is nothing wrong in advocating that.

I'm sorry to tell you that when you have a new boss you get to play by new rules. Welcome to the corporate word, not furry fantasy land.

Frankly, there's more than a few concepts of e6AI I found wholly contradictory in nature dealing with moderation and content. To me, if those go, good riddance and I welcome the new dawn.

You can be salty all you like. Their sandbox, their rules now.

Why are you all quibbling about the deck chairs on the Titanic? E6AI is dead and gone. There's no saving it.

Blep.art and MakeFox have spun up what is effectively a 100% mirror of all content in less than a couple of days, and if their legal entity requires different rules to the Dragonfruit legal entity, then that's just how it has to be.

Childish.

I disagree. The move to Blep.art was a community lead effort by the people most personally invested in the survival of the platform, including many popular/skilled directors and the members of staff who actually ran E6ai. With them gone, so are many lot of the people who formed the identity of the site. Now everyone's gone, Blep look less like an e6ai successor than it does an opportunistic scramble by people with unknown intentions.

Keep in mind, all of this has been about a day after MakeFox made a public pledge to keep the site as it was, and accepting large donations under that (apparently false) premise.

The site _is_ as it was/is. At the moment. But there will be changes to make it conform to MakeFox's reality, just as it was born of Dragonfruit's reality. This is premature pissery about what _might_ happen, versus was _is_ there. Some people's toes got stepped on and... that's just business. Everything _is_ still the same, for now. Deal with the changes as they occur _if_ they're material and substantive, not just "they won't let me do what I did before" stuff.

A bunch of Directors already threw blep out over this announcement so it will be missing some of them. The word is also going around so the website will be defo looked down upon.

But it's not the same as e621 for numerous reasons, which was what I was trying to say. E621 denizens who don't like e6ai and ultimately got it shut down did so for moral reasons (that I happen to disagree with). Blep.art made a heel turn after a large number of people gave them their login and credit information.

arandamosia said:

What are you talking about? Credit information is handled via a third party PCI processor, so MakeFox will never see it; and your login information is no less safe at Blep.art than it is at E6AI. They run the same code.

This is patently just spreading Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt and is not appropriate to be seeding at this time.

i might be stupid

Doesn't make what they did less fucked, but the platform does work mostly as advertised.

Duh. They're still trying to figure out what they just bought and how it integrates into the rest of THEIR business. And then the changes come. It's not been 48 hours yet and already the "they're not to be trusted" has started because... reasons. What those reasons are I have yet to find out, and might not ever find out. But I've been through enough corporate takeovers in my life to not panic, even if my job got cut.

da_reel_digitaltf said:
I'm on it right now. It's only minorly indistinguishable from e6AI at present. There _will_ be changes because it's new ownership. So I'm confused what the issue is. When someone buys my business I tell them how things _ran_ not get a vote in what they do moving forward. That's corporate reality. I'm not about to sh*t all over something just because 'we already have a guy for that' stepped on toes. There has to be something _substantial_ and _problematic_ for me to go that far. So far nothing has evolved to that extent.

You keep talking about corporate reality, but this is a non-profit that took crowdfunded money and removed the original stakeholders.

If e6ai had been purchased for money, and the new CEO had differences of opinion from who he bought it from, what you're saying may apply, but you're normalizing a hostile takeover and excusing shitty behaviour because "what do you expect them to do, not exploit a desperate community trying to survive unforseen circumstances? That's business baby!"

This is turning into a bit of a rollercoaster. I can understand both sides, and it's a shame they couldn't get to get to common ground on an agreement, so I'm gonna hold off on the whole pitchfork thing. There was already enough of that on the e621 thread.

It does make me wonder how the eventual changes of staff and guidelines might affect blep's submissions down the road, but hopefully it'll just be "e6ai with different staff" and another option comes up that turns into "e6ai with the same staff and different name".

Blep seems to run fine, and works as intended. No-one here can stop you or future Furry AI image fans from using it. My personal problem is that, as far as I can tell, the 'official' move to Blep from e6ai by the staff was made under false or misleading pretenses from MakeFox. It's not surprising that they want to make changes, but it wasn't explained properly until everyone had already been committed to the project. It's not extremely surprising due to how rushed everything has been, but it's still very annoying.

I believe that actively asking people to avoid Blep is a bit of an overreach by people passionate about trying to keep their community together. I think it's understandable that they feel that way, and thus far I don't see anyone saying that people going to Blep are worse for it (though admittedly I haven't looked very far).

I could certainly see it as a rushed lack of meeting of the minds, but... to me that still doesn't make much sense. Same with the comment about the employment agreement/contract/whatever someone wants to call it. That's been standard for higher-level employment for over half a century now... to me it's expected without hesitation. But... yeah... it's annoying... hopefully it doesn't create too many holes in things. That's the thing I hate more than anything - deletion of material out of petty pissery. But... I can't control the world - I have enough trouble keeping up with my little corner of it, which is why I'm not as active in furry things as I was 20 years ago.

I am certainly not trying to take sides. It just bothers me when someone is immediately labeled a "dictator" simply because of a difference of opinion - and then, to make matters worse, this is flaunted provocatively across two separate threads:
- Delete your accounts
- Avoid their site
- They are dictators

Couldn't this have been resolved privately first? e6ai is going to be shut down regardless. In my view, this kind of behavior is simply not okay.

I thought they were just looking for a host so they could crowdfund to maintain operation, I think SoFurry might be going on that model, but I confess to not being or knowing any of the people involved in running these sites. I can only hope that what's here stays accessible in some form, and a site like it continues into the future.

Also, damn, you've been here for a while, welcome back to Furry drama. Glad you had the foresight to download a lot of e6ai's posts.

What a rollercoaster indeed with the belp ai thing. Honestly, i'll join the official E6Ai discord next Wednesday or Thursday, to be kept in touch.

So someone at e621 said this site is shutting down due to moderation drama more than anything, can anyone explain what that possibly means? Not like we would lose *that* much, since the official stance was "hurr young art is trained on csam but feral art is not trained on bestiality, promise".

Been around this mess more than a few orbits of the celestial sphere - since way back before FurNation was a BBS. But, to my understanding, Blep is getting folded into the MakeFox corporate structure, not as a wholly independent entity, and that's the cause for the consternation. But... logically the only way for the site to exist would be to have a corporate structure overarching and funding it in some mechanism that isn't purely donation-driven.

I'm not directly involved in the mess this go-round. I had my fill of that a few decades ago.

I already miss Bad Dragon's relatively chill (IMO) handling of their booru sites. As for funding, I'd offer a token argument with aforementioned existence of SoFurry, but their userbase is quite small.

It's unfortunate.

I don't know what's left after the extended hiatus. A lot of my written work is there, but yeah - the "things are coming" kinda killed it off. I remember when YiffStar started (the precursor to SoFurry). Don't know what's happened over there - can only presume Toumal gave up or something.

There is a group of people on internet who want to get involved in some kind of drama. They are not part of the conflict and have no connection whatsoever to either side. They are just looking for a target for their hatred. A way to get a hit of dopamine.

Oh I didn't know you wrote, nice! I think written works are very underappreciated in the fandom. Anyways, it's still there with all it's previous works, and I actually like the website way more after the (extremely long) revamp. It's main issue right now seems to be how niche of a platform it is. Toumal seems to be doing fine, still keeping the site running and is active on the associated discord.

Private drama? What's that? This is current year - everything's public. *chuckles and shakes his head*

Yeah, I know. Always a party with someone crying.

Im curious now... link for the song?

Devs of suno removed way to listen songs without installing app just in browser. Huge mistake.
And they made shared link leak who is sharing song. Another mistake.
Suno creators basically added de-anon to shared links. Awful "feature".
Anyway song is called Mal0 [Soft Fuzzy Version] made by "Hellhound Rhytms"

I've yet to try to get back since my original email went extinct long ago and I just never changed it because I could enter my password and it'd work.

I should do that sometime.

I think it’s more the difficult situation that makes things appear this way. I can understand both sides. We’ve been through quite a lot recently: first the shutdown of e6ai, then the unnecessary announcement on e621, followed immediately by the announcement of follow-up projects.
Everyone wants to - and I apologize if this sounds offensive - chime in with their two cents. And that’s exactly what’s so frustrating about the current situation.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Surprised? No.
I don’t want to know how many copies of this still exist - or will exist.
I think this has been going on ever since the announcement.

I'm not understanding the problem with Blep.

New owners means new rules. Volunteers and lower level staff have to abide by the new rules or leave if they don't like it. Its the golden rule: he who has the gold makes the rules.

This is how the corporate world has worked since forever.

Also, staying here and doing nothing isn't an option because e6ai is gone next week. The options are to work under the new owners at Blep, or not have any website at all.

The only way around that is to fund the website yourself, but hosting like this cannot be cheap. You'd need a revenue source in perpetuity to fund it.

More or less, the owner sort shown to have the same vision as the staff at first, then once everything was live, sort of wanted to force a lot of things going against what was expected initially and there were zero negotiation possible.

Having a group of voluntary people to do work for you is not something that should have been taken for granted, and it is more valuable then just the website. but I guess they did not care.

I did read the contract. From the contract alone. Everything sounded proper for a company taking the reins. The main conflict was how hands-on MakeFox wanted to be. Corpo getting the final say was expected. Even BD had some final say here. MF was reaching way too far and wanted to push out staff. Change things. Then let staff control MF's vision. The lack of wanting to listen to the community's heads that are already installed is dumb. They were inheriting something and decided to smear it into their vision. Also. Not a big fan of them being allowed to remove staff and put up whoever they want. If they aren't putting up a director or artist, they are gonna miss a lot, and the quality control we are used to will plummet. Though I thought I read that they wanted to remove takedowns... Ugh.

It's tens of thousands of dollars (recalling what FurAffinity needed to pay for running the site after they refused to comply with Advertiser demands)
