Topic: blep.art - don't go there

Posted under General

Hello user of e6ai.net. Jelloponies here, your friend admin.
I’m really sorry to inform you that the cooperation we had with blep.art to save our beloved site has failed.
We were desperately hoping to find some way to keep hosting this amazing community and keep this ride going, but this time it didn’t work out.

Due to a lot of pressure from the company that took over hosting the site, attempting to pressure staff to sign nonsensical legal agreements and strong-arm their way in to change both the site’s structure and policy, all the staff that ran e6ai.net have now left blep.art.

I encourage you to not go to this site but to perhaps join the “discord”:/static/discord while we try to figure something else out. Hopefully we will be able to keep this place alive somehow, and we’re working our very best to achieve just that.

This is insane.

My thoughts exactly. But I guess... at least they showed true colors quickly and not as a surprise down the road?

Mostly I just hope that a more trustworthy option can be found as a new home in time./

im glad the e6ai staff are not there, means the site wont be randomly delete with peer pressure.

Just to clarify: The staff in question are not the ones that ordered the shutdown. The "e6ai staff" is referring to the volunteer janitors, moderators, and admins that are trying to bring this community forward, not the Bad Dragon/Dragon Fruit higher ups that set the shutdown for e6ai.

Changes to blep.art Moderation

The short and genuine version: MakeFox Group has certain expectations of control over its products and services, both for brand-management reasons and because of civil liability. The previous moderation team, who came over from e6ai, were understandably very emotionally tied to the site after all their hard work curating it, and their expectation was full autonomy over the site's content and moderation practices.

Despite negotiation and internal mediation, we were unable to reach an agreement that satisfied both teams. Since MakeFox Group owns the domain, the site and the infrastructure, the two teams have parted ways, and MakeFox Group will handle moderation directly for now. We're grateful for the work the previous team put in, and we're bringing on new moderators.
What this means for you

Your account, your uploads, the tags and the post history are all safe. Nothing is being deleted.
For a while, submission reviews and account issues may take longer than usual. These delays are temporary.
Comments and forum posting are paused while the new team gets set up. They'll reopen soon.
No one should expect any policy or process changes at this point, unless one is driven by an emergency business issue.

We'll post further updates here as things settle.

Sounds like they're not shutting anything down, at least.

Sucks that there are disagreements - over what? - but saving all the artwork posted to E6AI is the most important thing right now.

Honestly, I wonder if there's disagreements happening *internally* within MakeFox themselves. Because there is a big gap between everything Hinoserm originally said and the picture he painted (which was fairly consistent with what e6ai staff were saying) vs the new actions suddenly taken and what lucalunera is now saying out of the blue.

And if they're not on the same page internally about what the plan is then... it would be downhill from there in terms of communication breakdown to anyone outside of their little board room, and then fighting over who controls the car... Either way, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that MakeFox knows how to work together internally, let alone with new potential partners. Which is sad.

I'm betting some of it is regarding the censorship/'quality' guidelines/rules that have been irritating some/many of us for awhile.

Either way, it's their sandbox now. I'll be there.

please make this thread sticky, so people who are just reading the former annoucement thread will not just go to blep and stop reading at that point.

and to prevent confusion maybe link the announcement here in the starting post as well, so it makes sense to people not even knowing anything of the parting with e621 yet.

As far as I'm aware thus far Blep is fine - it's mearly a disagreement about the continued employment/access of the present e6AI staff under the new corporate structure. The staff considers the stipulations draconic, the corporate leadership considers them necessary for continuity of their brand and direction thereof.

This sounds both really blown out of proportion and spiteful towards blep.

From the perspective of the users, yeah, because now all e6ai's art is saved. In the eyes of a lot of the people who were most involved on this website's side, they got absolutely fucked by a relatively sudden pivot right when they were at the finish line of "making the same e6ai, just in a different place."

you mean it's safe until the removeme list is processed.... there's been more than a few takedown requests made in the past 4 hours since the impasse came to a head.

Thankfully everything that I've been able to ascertain being gorked is already within my archive, but eventually someone may flip their wig and nuke something I don't already have.
