By "pfps" you mean profile pictures? My website has customizable avatars - any image can be used.

Yeah, meant the profile pictures of commenters. Full archival type thing,

So I wanted to step in here and actually be helpful to some people with concerns. I as well as some others have started talks with the crew about continuing this site. (I will not say more just know that others with the money and time are in fact interested in keeping it going. As to if that will happen, shrug)

Also just in the interest of being transparent. I am in fact one of the mods of pawbooru.org and would like to clear a few things up around some statements that have been made.

1. We have a more lax policy as to what can be posted because we think that "art is art". Its as simple as that. We do not allow spamming and what is clearly (excuse my phrasing) "trash" content. But we do accept that some times an image can look nice despite minor flaws.
2. Some people have complained about how vague some things are. In our opinion it is better to be vague than over reaching and strict. We trust our crew to be reasonable and have an internal requirement to actually review things with the team before acting. (unless it is very clearly something that needs to be acted on ala csam, deep fakes, etc) We feel this lets people have more room to flex and show what they can do without having to bring down the heavy hammer over what are minor things just because they fall into a broad category or over reaching rule.
3. Yes we allow more content than just furry. We have always disliked that the furry community and anime/general art communities are so counter to each other. We want peace, we want a place for it all. And not a danbooru style "yeah we have some of that furry stuff, its in a pile over their" but rather an actual place where everyone is a first class citizen furry and anime. AI and traditional art. Images and video. We do not needlessly discriminate.
4. Yes the site is a bit of a mess. Things have been happening slowly to see what we really want to end up at. We take suggestions and act on them quickly to see if what comes out is what we like. We have a couple of "real" devs that will be entering the project soon:tm: to get things cleaned up and running smexy.
5. Yes we do allow content that some of you find too spicy. That is ok. We accept that we might not be for everyone. But we are aiming to be an alternative at scale.

I am sure some of you are wanting to know how I can be so pro pb and also want to save e6ai. My statement is as follows. We don't have to see others fall to lift our selves up. I like pawbooru because it feels like the mods are less willing to bend the knee. But I respect that the e6ai staff have built something amazing and vibrant. So given the chance to extend a hand to help I 100% will jump to do so. I want more, not less.

Now even tho I do want to save this place or even if not me someone. I do have to do my shill.
We have:
Twitter/x integration.
Easy drag and drop uploads.
Content migration from e6ai.net to pawbooru.org

Paid (yes real money) contests.
and just a bunch of good people.

I signed up, just for giggles. Yeah, the UI is more than a bit clunky, but I remember programming stuff like that from a blank *.txt file, so I ain't that picky. Also 'Ars Gratia Artis' is how I look at things, too - ranging from Boxen's scat fetish to KBI's framed-modern-art furry pieces... thanks for helping provide a place that might not be a new place, but is just another place.

r. i. p. to the best bestiality site on the internet 😢

[insert disclaimer that I don't support actual bestiality here] Feral stuff always felt like AI's strong point... I guess I'm on a mission to download anything worth saving from here now.
I apologize for calling this site "unnecessary" in the e621 thread; I feel mildly guilty about that.

Damn finally have a 4 letter user name in a big site and pissy people take it away. The E621 post reads like they're happy this site is gone like it will stop AI art genning.

A few weeks ago I build a offline local site for all my saved stuff. Many were tagged because of this place. Glad i did it

I hope we can disagree like gentlemen. Handshake, smile, keep talking. The internet has gotten so full of pure spite that it feels rare to just sit with different views without trying to crush the other person. I still want that, even when it’s hard.

Absolute takes on whether AI has a place in art or none at all feel unwise to me. We’ve been arguing about what counts as art since photography. Pressing a button on a box isn’t automatically art. Doing it with real care, composition, context, and intent can still reach people. Same with prompting. I don’t like that anyone can just declare themselves an artist. Painters, illustrators, directors, storytellers, even careful prompters—those are fine. “Artist” is something other people raise you to when the work actually moves them. A thousand filtered selfies, fingerpaints, mediocre funding-driven movies, AAA Studios creating the worst of games, or pure prompt spam don’t automatically qualify just because someone wants the title.

Some people reduce the whole idea of art down to their own hunger for the story of the starving artist—the toiling, suffering, romantic figure who must bleed for it to count. That story has beauty for people who need it, but it isn’t the only way. Effort isn’t the whole story either. Someone sitting on a rock telling a story that makes strangers cry can be more of an artist than someone grinding forever for nothing. Mastery often looks quieter than people expect—less wasted motion, more of the thing that actually lands. Sun Tzu wrote about winning with elegance and as few moves as possible. A lot of the real victories in life look like that and go unnoticed.

AI datasets are a snapshot of the visible internet of humanity. That’s why the argument about “stealing art” feels incomplete to me. Steve Jobs liked quoting Picasso: “Good artists copy; great artists steal.” T.S. Eliot said something close: “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal.” Of course you still have to make it your own. But shapes, lines, ideas, words, colors—at some point the opposite turns dystopian. Corporations already copyright birdcalls, the sound of wind, nature ambience, even specific colors. Ownership of ideas has become one of the strongest weapons companies use against each other and against everyone else. I don’t condone direct theft of finished objects or money. I do find the total lock-down of iteration strange.

Of course we get flooded with slop on For You pages, recommendations, and when scrolling. We call those places home? Is this really the place we lost? We shouldn’t use those things in the first place. We’re supposed to tell one another what we like, visit the channels we want directly, and search out things with purpose and will instead of letting the algorithm serve us and then complaining about what arrived.

At the same time the tools can be useful. My brother cares for someone paralyzed from the neck down; they give him back expression and function. I’m a nurse for a post-stroke patient who used to do technical drafting and now struggles with her hands. I generate custom writing practice sheets for her every day so the exercises aren’t childish. It takes minutes and frees time for actual care. That’s not nothing to me.

Prompters can still be artists if they treat it like a director: not chasing cash or instant dopamine, but trying to evoke something real with care and media literacy. Creativity comes from the mind more than the hands. Directors often never touch the camera. Photographers don’t invent the light. Storytellers retell old things. The medium isn’t the point. Whether it comforts the disturbed, disturbs the comfortable, or just makes someone feel less alone is.

We already live with worse everyday: violent media kids access too young, porn desensitization, social media anxiety and status games, short-form attention destruction, radicalizing music, beauty contests and reality TV that commercialize bodies and manufacture narratives people love to hate. AI is another tool in that mess, not the unique apocalypse. Infighting over it mostly distracts from the platform holders and big companies who profit either way.

I spent time in academic art circles in Vienna and did commercial 3D and illustration work years ago. Back then the academic and professional side was often more open about adapting new tools and approaches than people outside expected. It’s almost funny—most would assume the trained, institutional world would be the rigid and elitist one. In the end a lot of self-taught internet artists turned out to be the more prideful and gatekeeping. Less accepting of other ways to do things, more certain their method was the only pure one.

Experimenting with this stuff once got me treated like I was tainted by black magic inside a friend group. It wasn’t about the work itself. It cooled down later and we stayed friends, but the speed of the spite was real and shocking. I’m tired of the endless squabble about who gets to decide what art is allowed to be. Art is an experience that happens in the head. I’ve seen AI-assisted work that stuck with me emotionally the same way certain moments in nature do—light through leaves, color on a single petal, wind on skin. If it moved someone, it moved them. If it didn’t, it didn’t.

There’s something beautiful in still being able to sit with all of this without needing to win. In wanting people to keep creating, keep feeling, keep disagreeing without turning it into another war. Even when the tools are messy, even when the flood of slop is real, even when we don’t fully agree—there’s still the chance to leave someone with a little more hope or a little less pain than they arrived with. That still feels worth protecting.

I honestly don't even know what to say...
Even though I've been keeping to the shadows all this time, I still can't help but say that it hurts to lose this place. It was almost like the only little cozy corner where I could come across something beautiful, interesting, or even astonishing, and also share my own nonsense with you, feeling like a small part of something bigger, something I genuinely love. And now it's all slipping away like sand through my fingers...
Still, I'm sincerely glad I got to be here, even if it didn't last very long.

Oh thank god you are over here as well. Trying to keep neutral is straining. I 100% agree. Both art and images are meant to invoke something in a person. Otherwise, we wouldn't even be having this debate in the first place. It isn't about winning at this point. It is about enjoying what you have. We enjoyed our time here. That is all that matters.

This is how most things should be. You can make something pretty as much as you WANT. It doesn't matter if the workings are shit. We are seeing this in video games. Big AAA budgets that are graphical masterpieces. But they are ASS outside of that.

It’s a shame e6ai is shutting down. From what I’ve read, seems it’s been pushed for ages to be shut down.

I’ve loved being on here, no judgement and genuinely seeing brilliant pieces by talented folk.
Will definitely have to revive this site under a different name, or move it to an accessible archive where the past stays as it was unremoved. I know it’s feasible. If not create our own, new site.

Hate to be that guy, but quite frankly 621 is mostly garbage, so is R34. Either sites have restrictions to the point where the stuff on here would be removed instantly, or isn’t quality controlled, or just a horrible to use website with clunky UI.

Coming from someone who moans an awful lot on Ai IRL, at least on here I see things that I know have had effort put in them, not just a quick 2 min gen. That I will compliment.
I’m flicking through pages and pages and pages on 621 to find the same of the same, ‘hate to say this’, “human made slop”. Or literal ads for patreon, subscribestar or content that is literally barely any frames for a decent animation, and charging an absurd price. 2+ mins of nothing. And to see some big names making the same crap once every 2-3 months, charging a price for early access, and then posting the most ‘turn off’ content imaginable, same old recycled content too. It’s boring and uninspiring. Images are even worse, and the community is like something out of nursery/kindergarten. Had my acc for 1.5 years, 7 pages of favs. I like quality and those who show passion in their work, I see very little of that for a so called ‘fandom’ of folk take a lot of pride in their lil quirks.
I used to be around from early as of 2015, and boy how it’s changed. The quality was amazing all the time, people were friendlier, less hostile and you could see the passion and enthusiasm, now you don’t. And now folk are turning to sites like these for inspiration, because quite frankly people are clinging at loose ends, especially myself. To remind myself of what the artwork SFW and NSFW. Actually meant 10-11 years ago.

Looks like I’ll have to hop on the discord for further details.

Much love to those who put their great time and effort into making brilliant pieces, and to those who managed this site. We will find a way 🙏

I already stated my piece on quality guidelines so I'm not exactly sure how to feel about this.

I don't really agree with the sentiment that separating anime and furry is "discrimination". There's a saying that the more of a wider appeal you try to make with something, the less of a core audience you'll have. People and services specialize in specific things because that's what they know best or can serve best. It also gives you a scope to work towards and limits any overhead that could be caused from expanding too much. I realize there is a decent amount of overlap with both the furry and anime communities, but it's also not everyone. There's certainly division among any community, even those there are solely focused on one thing, but the division increases when you introduce more stuff.

I don't mean to say this in a way that diminishes what pawbooru is trying to achieve, and I do genuinely hope your team is successful. It's only right that there are always alternatives available to not only serve audiences that need it but also even provide redundancy to those that take a more archival stance for things like this. I personally hate seeing anything truly lost regardless of its perceived quality or value, so I technically value that more than anything. Despite what I've said, I did make an account on pawbooru yesterday just in case.

On that note, I just want to let everyone know who isn't in the e6ai Discord that Jelloponies (admin) has said "Eyes peeled; something big is coming" as something of a tease. What this leads to, I don't know, but that's just a heads up.

I appreciate your explanation, but the one thing that stops me from considering Pawbooru is upload rule C4 - Uncanny content. Never mind vague, that's poorly defined. There are plenty of weird monster designs and unusual fetishes seen here, a chunk of which I have generated, have a decent audience here for example. Your personal opinion on if you like the content I upload is not of my concern, but I don't want to waste my time making an account only to find out dicknipples and cockvore aren't allowed there.

I need clear unambiguous answers before I jump ship.

Well, it's been a pleasure sloppin it up with you guys. There are some really talented contributors here, and I hope they find a suitable venue to post to. Peace.

I'm genuinely baffled why anyone listens to the mob on Bluesky. They're always angry about everything. There's no point in trying to please people who want to be angry.

Its like trying to please the mob on X, same madness.

Entire companies have gone bankrupt listening to the mob, thinking its real people and real trends, and its not, and in the process ruined so many great things because they're mistaken what their audience is.

The loudest people on those platforms also have the least amount of real actual interactions elsewhere. They don't go anywhere else, they don't visit anywhere, they don't buy anything.

Honestly, e6ai always felt incredibly two-faced to me.
e6 devs: “Let’s make scraping our site really annoying for image generators.”
Also e6 devs: “Here’s a sister site specifically for AI but our quality standards will so autistically high most users will be turned off of ever wanting to use it.”

Gods, both sides of the sloppy coin to be sure. I've literally had work taken down for a few pixels, while absolute 'stylized dog shit' can stay up, because it most likely caters to a fetish. I've had stuff submitted, then approved, only to be removed by another mod 2-3 days later, like wow, what fucks.

So, I'm torn between the website getting shut down, and also at the same time clapping that it removes the power of those who a very tiny bit of parts and a MASSIVE ego because THEY ARE IN CONTROL.

I just hope someone else will be able to revitialize a simliar site with some indeed tight quality control, but not as sloppy as some sites, and definitely NOT as draconian as the mods here can be.

Generally speaking I find the online Furry fandom to be one of the most toxic online groups around... never ending drama. And e621 has demonstrated this countless times.

I became a furry in 1992, and it's ALWAYS been toxic, no matter what area is involved. Local, Online, etc, always toxic. So, yeah, sometimes I really do wish that the non-furs would indeed burn the furry fandom down, because it's so horrible, then other times, I'm like, I don't really care anymore, and just move on!

Really don't do this. You will only further harden the heart of anyone who might still potentially be open at some point in the future and give those who can't be convinced ammunition. Speaking as someone who does moderation work elsewhere it is extremely difficult for most people to maintain proper neutrality when people start spamming. It grates on the nerves and often radicalizes people against whatever it is that you're effectively shoving into their face.

Exactly this. The people making decisions are once again bending to the screams of a minority that cant otherwise affect anything.
Just like game creators, that bend to loud 0.01% that does not buy games anyway and will never play them.

It goes without saying that dfy6c is 100% right about this. We do not condone this kind of behavior in any way. There is no way that such actions would give the owners of the site pause to reconsider the decision they've made, and if anything, it only reinforces the negative stereotypes surrounding our community and affirms their decision is the correct one.

It will be so fun in a few years when all the luddites will be pushed into irrelevance and will squat on the sidelines of history as clowns.

The human art only sites will decline in traffic and popularity in a few years. I just hope that the people caving in to antiai folks will not be hypocrites and will go down with the ship as the virtue captains they are.

Is there a way to mass download the website?

Using any tool like gallery-dl/grabber or maybe through torrent?

The problems weren't so much the angry Bluesky mob itself, but that the angry mob has (apparently) gotten a whole bunch of artists to submit DNPs to E6 and boycot Bad Dragon. I can kinda sorta understand why the knee gets bendy at that point, seeing as we were already the black sheep and a financial liability.

And E6 has already suffered reputation damage and DNPs as 'that place bots scrape to make loRAs', so this new shitstorm has to be very inconvenient to them. As shitty as it is, cutting us loose is the easiest, safest way out for management.

What's possibly more concerning is how easy artists get manipulated by a mob spreading a bunch of half truths.
Not that it matters much, I'm pretty sure most wouldn't really appreciate an AI-focused sister site to E6 existing in the first place, when confronted with just that plain fact. Even when the reason is as benign as keeping AI art off the main site by offering people an equally good alternative.

Um... do you consider Amish people clowns? I can't help but feel sorry for you if the power goes out. Some people here straddle that line, you know... both traditional craftsmen and using modern technology.

Yeah, that's going to be a "no, and screw that" from me. I'm done with e621, and I'm done supporting any artist who isn't at the very least openly supporting of the usage of AI in art.

It has been fun posting here and learning how to create things as a hobby. This site will be missed.

This site could have still existed if BD didn't put their names on it. Could have easily got a third party to host and then slush fund them to keep the site open.

Both traditional craftsmen and using modern technology - is e9, e6 and e6ai. The basic idea with running three different sandboxes was wise. But e9 and e6 without 6ai is like throwing computers in the window in 1980 to return back to mechanical and electrical calculators. Modern luddites can do the hell they want, but every year ai will become more and more common. And e6 team just shot it's own knee.

Also amish comparison is absolutely incorrect. Many of the artists on e621 or FurAffinity had never used a brush, never mixed oil paint on a palette, never painted from life or en plein air. On the amish philosophy they are not artists at all - just photoshop brushes, refs, plugins users who think they are better than Comfy prompting or img2img users. Also most of of Xitter or BlueSky "community" members, demanding to ban AI are not artists at all. Even those of Microsoft Paint.

Also most of of Xitter or BlueSky "community" members, demanding to ban AI are not artists at all. Even those of Microsoft Paint.

I was speaking in the broad-brush manner nayct was using, not making a direct comparison with e621 members. But most of them DO use some physical talent to produce imagery, not necessarily pencil, pen or brush. It was more a matter of calling out the overly broad brush being applied.

Also, just to note, Amish aren't authors or artists. That's verboten as a factor of personal pride, which is anathema. Same with playing music. Just a quirk of their theosophical perspective.

This site could have still existed if BD didn't put their names on it. Could have easily got a third party to host and then slush fund them to keep the site open.

Unfortunately I doubt it. e621 provides positive brand building for them as a popular art platform with a well known connection to their main business — e6ai by comparison was always a negative influence on their public perception with their main demographic and would have been an even bigger problem for their reputation if they had obscured their funding of an AI gallery and been found out.

If we want to have anything at all we're going to have to build our own platforms without ties to fickle platform holders, and even that will be an uphill struggle as indicated by the number of AI platforms that immediately go to shit the second the bills come due and payment processors start breathing down their necks about all the icky taboo vibes they're giving.

Re6AI user script. Install it thru TamperMonkey browser extension and you'll be able to mass download your favs.

One thing though: images are downloaded and then archived, during the archivation E6AI browser window should't be minimized. The download won't break, it will just wait till window is maximized again.

Thanks

It is my sincere hope that e621 is spammed to death with a never ending flood of gen AI that the deserve for doing this.

Peace out and love my brothers and sisters

A very strange decision. Instead of exerting control over the party and securing their support for the future, they chose to oppose them. Well. The bridges have been burned. The consequences of this decision will be felt for a very long time.
I thought the online community had learned not to be led astray by unhinged individuals, but apparently, we haven’t made enough mistakes yet to realize that.

The owner of yiff-party.com has announced on discord that he has reached out to the owners of e6.ai with a offer to buy out the website to keep it running. Nothing more has been announced so far.

While I can certainly understand the frustration and upset at this unfortunate situation, this is not the correct response. Wishing ill on others will only make the decision to axe e6ai more justified in their eyes. Be the better person, because comments like these are being seen and used to further convince them they made the right decision.

I'm upset too, I've been using e621 for close to 20 years and e6ai only since last year. I've saved more images from e6ai in the last year and a half as I have from e621 in the last *decade*.

e6ai will have a successor of some sort. There's already a few alternatives. This isn't the end, just a fork in the road. It's a shame, to me e6ai has been THE cornerstone of the AI furry community. And then a wrecking ball from nowhere comes to tear the whole thing down because a vocal minority doesn't like something they can completely and totally avoid by simply... doing nothing.

I cannot help but feel this was a very shortsighted decision, but I understand the reasons even if I cannot agree with all of them. Time will march ever on, use that time to prove we are not what they accuse us of.

Their main problem is that you can't uninvent technology. You can't uncreate models and lora's. This technology is not going away. And its getting better every year by leaps and bounds. Just look at the oldest images on e6ai and compare them to the newest images. The quality different is staggering. Imagine where this will be in another 5 years. Or 10 years. Or 15 years.

They seem to believe that if they dislike something enough it will go away.

At some point, and I'd argue we're probably already there, they come across as people who refuse to use email, refuse to have a smart phone. Or even refuse to have a phone number at all. They're like the person who gets their emails printed out on paper to read them, and then is full of self-righteous smugness as their own superiority, completely unaware at how backwards everyone else sees them as.

AI is a game changer and we just have to get used to it, and I say this as someone who's lost his job to AI recently. Its also why I go to generative AI for my own personal amusement because I cannot afford commissions anymore. I don't know how the game is changing, but its changing, and its changing permanently. We all have to learn how to use these tools, or get left behind.

Let's not throw bodies at a wall in an already lost war. Each banned account will just be more ammo.

Yiff-party... the patreon leak site... please tell me they don't do that anymore. Or it was a different name. God. If BD owning E6AI wasn't the biggest PR blunder of the week.

Um... do you consider Amish people clowns? I can't help but feel sorry for you if the power goes out. Some people here straddle that line, you know... both traditional craftsmen and using modern technology.

I draw for my own pleasure in analog form. I am not really into generating pictures with AI myself. I just cant not stand how the antiai crowd simply lack and cohesion and their agenda crumbles when faced with real world. They want to command others what to do, but god forbid if AI is included in something they like. Then they will do mental gymnastic like "it is not AI it is machine learning" or "but in this case it is ethical" xD

I think it's better we react to this tastefully and with class. The anti-ai crusaders would love nothing more than to see us mad and in pain over this. But ultimately, it doesn't really change much.

We’re back, with a new name, a fresh coat of paint, and the same weird, wonderful community you know and love. 🥳
Say hello to blep.art!
Thanks to the people at the MakeFox Group we now have a new place to call our home.
Most stuff comes with us from the old one but sadly some things are missing (comments and accounts).
To transfer your favourites from e6ai.net you can go to this link once you've created your account https://blep.art/maintenance/user/e6ai_favorite_import

So anyway... Same art, same people, same chaos. We just stuck our tongue out at the shutdown and kept going! :blep:
Thank you for all the kind words, the sad emojis, and the “please no” messages. They meant more than you know. The rug has been un-pulled, and we’re so happy to have you with us.

I was hoping that site just get a rebranding and will be alive, but didn't expect it THAT fast

Good news, everyone!

Just went to that site and ran into the unpleasant sight of pictures paywalled behind a premium subscription

Not sure if I read this correctly, but are the owners / admin of the new site the same one as for E621? Because if that is the case it wont really change anything? The antis will have the same leverage on them via DNP@E621 as now?

Its a new owner - MakeFox Group, Inc.

The owners of e621 are Bad Dragon / Dragonfruit Ventures. From the announcement, I'm guessing that the buyers are the same from this website https://makefox.group/ (found it on a quick search, but it matches the name at least).

If that's correct, and looking through the text on their site, they have the complete opposite stance on AI compared to the people running e621.

Is there any chance Dragonfruit will try to get the new site shut down?

The haters will try to shut down the new site - that’s 100% chance. Will Dragonfruit get involved in that? Maybe.

fourtyone said:

I imagine it'll be out of reach. I also imagine the only reason e6ai was shut down is it was within reach of the crusaders. Who knows. Doesn't matter.

Okay, that sounds good. Thanks for posting this info.

Oh wow, that's a lot faster than I ever expected! Awesome, thank you so much to anyone that has helped bring about this turnaround! 😀

Hope it'll be financially stable under this new ownership. :)

I don't see why. Why would they? With this move we'll be out of their hair as a reputational liability, and IIRC this was Varka's sort of pet project so they don't really have anything against us from a moral standpoint. Most of the E621 crew does but that's not Dragonfruit.

And to the Bluesky mob, it's now just another shady AI site in some corner of the web. They won't like it by virtue of there being another AI art hub, but their main issue was the E6 connection. If they still want to bring the pitchforks, good luck to them, they're pretty blunt now with the new owners being a non-profit AI dev.

Just worried that's all. The people who pushed for e6ai's shut down are not going to be happy everything is being copied to a new site.

reclusiarch said:

Active mods.
Paid (yes real money) contests.
and just a bunch of good people.

I guess this didn't go through after all, but I still want to say thank you for reaching out in the first place. 👍

Well... sucks to be them.

They wanted to stifle the AI, but instead, they gave it freedom.
