dewlap (anatomy)

A dewlap is a structure occurring under the necks, and general body area, of many animals. Usually it manifests as a longitudinal flap, wattle, or inflatable sac of skin that hangs beneath the lower jaw or neck. It occurs in many species of animals, but is most commonly seen in cervines, lizards, and birds.
