SCP-1471-A is a canine character from the mythos of the SCP Foundation website. Their debut story, SCP-1471 — MalO ver1.0.0, was posted in February 2013 by a writer known as LurkD, who was inspired by and includes a monochrome edit of Don't open the door...; a photo of a fursuit made by Qarrezel for tarangryph of her character, Breynz the zombie werewolf. While SCP-2521 — ●●|●●●●●|●●|● is the magnum opus of the author's career, SCP-1471 has irrefutably become the dark horse of the SCP Foundation's furry demographic.

SCP-1471-A is an anthropomorphic canine with a skull head, empty white eyes, black fur and hair, and (traditionally) a black cloak with a rope belt. Canonically, SCP-1471-A is a digital creature that can manifest as hallucinations and had no stated gender, but fans have taken liberties with their tangibility, wardrobe, and gender.

SCP-1471-A is identified with the name MalO by SCP-1471, a phone app that is the means of experiencing them. App store descriptions further characterize SCP-1471-A as an "exciting and interactive experience" dedicated to combating social anxiety and loneliness, reciprocating engagement with them. Upon instillation of SCP-1471, SCP-1471-A will ostensibly begin sending photos of themself to affected devices at a fairly consistent rate; akin to a stalker, these pictures document SCP-1471 at locations familiar to the device's user, gradually reaching the point they are directly with the person, despite no physical evidence of SCP-1471-A following them in the real world.

Soon enough, SCP-1471-A will permanently manifest as a chronic hallucination for those who have endured their messaging, appearing in their peripheral vision or reflective objects. This is purely visual, as SCP-1471-A has never made any vocalizations let alone verbal communication with a person; they have, however, made periodic attempts at nonverbal communication, but nothing cohesive has been discerned from their gestures.
In general, it does appear that SCP-1471-A seeks to be a source of companionship as SCP-1471's description would imply, since they have a chronic presence with no record of exhibiting hostile activity. However, the paranormal and invasive nature of SCP-1471-A often makes them a source of mental fatigue and psychological distress as expected of a person faced with a supernatural stalker; there is at least one case of a person who committed suicide due to increasing paranoia over SCP-1471-A.

SCP-1471-A and all related paraphernalia is designated the Euclid containment class, due to the indeterminable source, virality, and relatively benign yet disruptive effects of SCP-1471. At least 9,405 devices effected with SCP-1471 are in containment, with more potentially undiscovered or to be infected. Special containment procedures utilize a self-uploading malware program to render devices suspected to have downloaded SCP-1471 inoperable and available for seizure by field agents.

Due to the intangible perspective-based nature of SCP-1471-A, it is ambiguous if they are a singular pluripresent entity, or multiple instances created with each individual exposed to SCP-1471. As a product of this (and SCP-1471-A's popularity), there are several fan characters of people's own "MalOs", being regarded as a species.
