Lore dump: The Ildari

Much like their feral maned wolf counterparts, many ildari prefer an independent, lone wolf approach. Even when part of mercenary companies or adventuring parties, they tend to maintain a degree of distance from their peers, preferring specialized roles that maximize their personal autonomy, such as vanguard scouts or surprise flankers. However, this loner preference really only applies to work. Off duty, ildari are fully integrated into civic culture, residing alongside other species in bustling towns and cities and routinely partaking in local social gatherings. Notably, others regard the sexual appetite of female ildari as especially ravenous when in heat.

Organizationally, they generally declare themselves as part of an Ildaric faction rather than a familial house. In function, these factions are essentially trade guilds and act as their people's political representation. Much like the nagas, their racial identity is wholly combat-aligned, so it is no surprise that the two most prominent factions - Maron's Hand and the High-Striders - are both of a specialized martial subculture. The former, with their stark white cloaks, cluster around major cities and often given Crown contracts in respect to their well disciplined, reliable reputation. In contrast, the black-cloaked High-Striders occupy the rural realms and surrounding wilderness, renowned as natural thrill-seekers who bravely take on perilous jobs.
