Topic: Guidance and info needed. Uploads, site policies, general questions

Posted under General

Hey, I’m new here, and I have a few questions. I’ve tried looking through the forums and FAQ, tried to avoid wasting your time, but if I failed somewhere, apologies for that and for the long post.
I’m hoping to get a little clarification on some things.

Am I in the right place for my art?

My style is a bit different from what I see here. I probably blacklisted half of most popular tags here xD
I'm creating mostly SFW work, with no realistic sexual content, muscles, or skin or even realistic fur. It will be mostly just solo furry characters. Will this kind of art fit here, or should I consider another platform?

Video thumbnails

I uploaded two animations that have very similar thumbnails, but they’re quite different (one has the character walking, the other bending over). I was worried they might get flagged as duplicates. Can I change the thumbnail after uploading, or is there a way to avoid this? I often use static images as starting frames for animations, and while the beginning might look similar, the content changes drastically after the first second, sometimes teleporting to a different location or the entire clothing is magically changed.

Side question Sometimes I use Perchance to generate my images, but it often results in fairly generic output. I keep screenshots of my process to prove my ownership, but it’s a time-consuming and space-wasting habit. Once my upload is approved, can I delete those files, or should I hold onto them for a few days just in case?

Pending status confusion

One of my uploads was visible and approved but still had a “pending” status for a while even after it got upvotes and was public for a few hours. It has “active” status now, but I’m still a little confused about the process.

Scores vs. Favs

Which is a better indicator of whether people liked an upload - scores or favorites? I’ve seen uploads with lots of favorites but much fewer upvotes. Does that mean something specific, or is it just people being lazy?

Automated Tags

Some tags are automatically added to my uploads, and a few of them seem incorrect to me. For example, my art will almost never feature nipples or genitalia, yet the system tagged it with “breasts.” If someone searches for "breasts," I imagine they expect more than just a bump on the fur. I mean, if the tag is "female anthro," it's pretty obvious the character won’t be flat.

Also, if the setting is a forest, I don’t think a “tree” tag is really necessary. I’m hesitant to remove these tags myself - am I allowed to do so, or should I get permission first?

Image Resolution
One of my images was deleted for not meeting the minimum resolution requirement. I understand that rules are rules, and I’m not complaining, but I’d appreciate some feedback on this.

The image in question was generated using Perchance, which is a free AI tool that works well for SFW and “mostly SFW” furry art. It’s fast, doesn’t require registration, and allows me to quickly test new ideas.
I understand the need for high-quality uploads, but for me, the main focus is the general vibe and the charm in the eyes - things that don’t require a high resolution. Even when I view the image fullscreen, I’m not bothered by any pixelation or compression artifacts. I doubt anyone who enjoyed this upload would have been put off by the image being 450x760. I'd call that image a good quality one. I think sometimes it would be better to have a nice character in not-so-high quality in terms of resolution, than not having it at all.

Since this was discussed and my feedback will probably not change the approach, I have another question:
would it be okay to simply upscale the image to meet the file resolution requirement, or would it need to be done with an AI upscaler? Probably has to be AI. If anyone knows of good AI upscalers for semi-realistic and stylized furry characters, I’d love to hear recommendations.

Video compilation edits

- If I’m working on a video compilation and want to highlight a great pose or eye gaze.
Would it be okay to repeat a 5-6 second section of the video, or would that violate the rules?
- Is it fine to pause the video for 2-3 seconds to give the viewer more time to appreciate the eyes?
- If the eyes are the standout feature - like the way they open and close - would it be acceptable to repeat the 6-second clip in reverse? This could help the viewer fully enjoy the best parts of the compilation
- Or maybe you have suggestions on how to approach this kind of situation? I just want to make sure both the viewers and the mods are fully happy with my uploads. :)

Discord

I’ve seen people mention the E6AI Discord quite a bit on the forum. Is access restricted by some kind of ID verification? I don’t want my real life linked to my online furry presence, if possible.

DNP list

Two of the AI directors on DA are a big inspiration to me. I have a lot of respect for them, and I really don’t want anyone causing trouble for them or interfering with their work. Their AI art, in my opinion, stands above most others, though it’s definitely not the kind of art that the majority of E6AI users are into. So, I’m wondering: Is it simply because their art is mostly SFW and “cartoony” that no one has added them to the DNP list, or has it just not come up in the forum discussions about adding AI artists?

Is there anything I can do to help avoid future issues if someone uploads their art here against their wishes? I would ask them directly, since we’ve exchanged a few PMs on DA, but unfortunately, DA’s mod banned and deleted my account without a warning after he decided one of my uploads is not to his liking. Now I am unable to contact the artist.

I won’t name them publicly, but I can share their names with a mod in private. It would be great if someone could reach out to them on DA and ask. Since they’re earning donations, they probably wouldn’t agree to have their art posted here, but in that case, I’d like to see them added to the DNP list here. I genuinely wish them all the best and hope they continue creating amazing work for a long time.

Vore-related questions

- I see the "no real humans" rule. I’ve created some vore animations where a realistic-looking reptile eats a woman. The scene was generated through a text prompt, and the character just happens to be a realistic woman. I assume this kind of content isn’t allowed here, right?

- What about a dragon? It also looks photo-realistic, but of course, dragons aren’t real.

For these animations, I used a fairly restrictive SFW AI generator, but it still ended up adding a lot of blood, which could be considered graphic - even though there’s no gore. It’s more of a hyper-realistic style, almost like a scene from a horror movie. My question: Am I correct in assuming this kind of content isn’t allowed here?

Another animation features a dragon, but the camera, lighting, and style make it look like a stop-motion animation created with LEGO figures (with red goo or jam acting as blood). While the style looks graphic, it’s clearly not a realistic depiction.

Is this allowed? Even if it is, I can imagine that the presence of blood might upset some people. Would it be possible for a mod let me know if blacklist tags for the sensitive people exist and would be sufficient, or maybe I could show the animation to a mod in PM for review and have them decide whether it’s acceptable for e6AI or not?

For my animations, I tend to aim for graphic realism, but they’re set in a world where everyone is immortal and physical forms can be recreated. Because I hate it, I will never include any sadistic or suffering motives - just to be clear, I’m not one of those sickos.

If this isn’t the right place for my vore content, I’ll stick to sharing my furry art here. However, if anyone could recommend a site where I can upload and share such art, I’d appreciate it. Unless, of course, asking that isn’t allowed - then I’ll drop the question.

Not entirely E6AI related

What are the general policies regarding AI furry art on other websites? I've read through a few threads here, and it seems like this site is pretty flexible and supportive if an artist decides they no longer want their art here. Are there any known issues between different sites? In the future, I might want to post my art elsewhere. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions like "art posted here must be original and can’t be shared elsewhere at the same time"? I don’t want to limit my options down the road or end up regretting the username I pick now because I’m stuck with it from an old site. Just curious about things like that.

Not E6AI related:
Video editing websites

I’m stuck using an old machine. I cannot install any video editing app and the junk doesn’t support WebGL2, so websites that require it don’t work for me. Does anyone know of any video editing websites that process everything server-side and don’t need WebGL2? It’s not urgent, but I’d love to merge a few furry videos in the next few days, before I assemble my new PC.

Am I in the right place for my art?

You are in a place that shares AI generated media, being sfw or nsfw is not what matters here, we have many posts with rating:safe by directors that mostly shares sfw, about the style, it's a give or take and will depend on community viewing, aka, do your own shit and see the results

To be sure of content and certain ways that the media should be on the standards of quality go to https://e6ai.net/help/uploading_guidelines to check further

pat_furring said:
Video thumbnails

No

And for the flagging system it's not something that happens automatically, though we do have a system to check for duplicates md5 hashes, if it's the same exact file that was already posted here
Flagging is done by users and only by users and usually comes a reason attached, if it's a duplicate flag, it's also a "inferior" flag, as if there is 2 posts with the same file but in different qualities or has less artifact/compression, that one is the superior and the one being flagged is the inferior

pat_furring said:
Side question

it's really if you want to do, there is no exact telling for a post to get deleted for not following the quality standards that you may have missed details but the staff has catched on

pat_furring said:
Pending status confusion

i believe you are talking about post #140905
which when you go to your profile and click the "deleted" button you will see your posts deleted with a reason attached too
even if it got approved, the staff that approved may have missed a detail that another staff has caught onto it and thus causing removal

now if it's not that
Pending status are the original state of any post when it's being uploaded, it means the post will be up until 30 days has passed which it will get autodeleted, fortunately we have enough staff and lesser workflow than e621 so nowdays it's rare to pass the 30 day mark

Btw upvotes or favs don't affect anything with post approval

pat_furring said:
Scores vs. Favs

any with whatever you take it can be counted as "people liked it"

pat_furring said:
Automated Tags

No
We have wikis you can search and see by seeing a tag and clicking the "?" on the side to go on the wiki page, tho if the wiki seems to be blank feel free to request wiki creation on topic #372
With that being said check female wiki and check howto:tag_genders if you have any confusion

Otherwise you maybe talking about aliases and implications
Which you can check what they do below
https://e6ai.net/help/tag_aliases
https://e6ai.net/help/tag_implications

pat_furring said:
Image Resolution

again check the uploading guidelines, but if you ever feel like the deletion was unjust and it does follow the uploading guidelines then feel free to take up to the staff that deleted the post, if it was truly unjust the post will get up again probably, otherwise you can scale up to an admin

pat_furring said:
would it be okay to simply upscale the image

again check the uploading guidelines for Upscale, you can try but be sure that is free from artifacts or distortions

pat_furring said:
Video compilation edits

that will be if the compilation itself and how it's presented depend on case by case individually staff by staff
sometimes it doesn't hold value to be up here but don't quote me on that

pat_furring said:
Discord

if you see up there at the top there are tabs with names on it and as you can see for yourself the Discord tab is up there to take you to the e6ai discord
There is no need for ID verification, we as in users or staff will not and should not ask ever for IDs for verification, the only way it will be asked if there would be a suspicion of you being under the age of 18 which you will be promptly banned and you can be tasked to go to the management email, and yes that it did happened before

pat_furring said:
DNP list

do not care about "users wont like it" only care about if it follows the uploading guidelines and yes sfw posts are allowed
we only have a few on the actual DNP list https://e6ai.net/static/avoid_posting these were asked by the directors themselfs to be added as the CDNP(Conditional Do Not Post), (aside from sprunki)

pat_furring said:
Vore-related questions

you can probably stick with just not doing photoreal stuff which doesn't just apply to humans but to anything that can be mistaken as real
you can check director delken which had issues with it before but still does photorealism with the added quirk of human faces directly not showing any sort of anything to link to a real person

about the content, sure go on, the real issue here is if it can be mistaken by something IRL, we did had vore here quite the amount of times

pat_furring said:

e6ai is a booru that accepts ai generated media that has quality standards meanwhile other boorus like rule34 are usually spammed with AI with not much quality control as i have heard from other users
i can't really assist on this one

Video editing websites

can't help with this one sorry

Holy...

You would almost be better to ask on several threads.

Am I in the right place for my art?

Yes, what others like is irrelevant. SFW content is allowed. You can check the uploading guidelines for further information; everything is there.

Video thumbnails

Janitors looks at the entire animation to moderate them, they'll see it's not a duplicate. If they don't, you can make an appeal.

Side question

No approval are final: sometimes stuff pass through the cracks and are flagged for review much latter, so that's up to you.

That said: Staff don't do witch hunts, I can't see any reason why they'll ask proof of ownership.

Pending status confusion

For better or for worst, uploads are visible right away. They stay visible while the approval process is ongoing.

Upvotes and favs have no impact on the approval process whatsoever.

Scores vs. Favs

That's up to you to decide. Personally I think it's favs since some people have fun downvoting posts of kinks they hate (regardless of the quality of the post).

Automated Tags

Automated tags are added because there's active implications or aliases . You can try to remove them, but most likely they will be added back.

To request to remove them, you can make a request on the forum, or make a BUR. The community and the staff will debate and choose what to do accordingly.

Image Resolution

Staff had to put the limit somewhere and decided it would be that. I don't foresee this limit to go down. If it goes up, the older post will be grandfathered.

Upscaling

Yes, simpler: you can stretch the image without upscaling. AI upscaling often amplifies the defaults. The better thing to do is stretch it up and then use image-2-image (with a low denoise value) on the new image.

DNP list

Directors need to ask the staff directly to be on the DNP list. If they are not, you can post their art here as long as it respect the uploading guidelines . Accepting donation would not disqualify their art to be post here (as long as it's not paywalled art). If their art is not here, it's probably because no one active knows them, so you can be that person. Don't forget to link to their art in the "source" field :)

Vore-related questions

Photorealistic images are accepted if there is absolutely no way to be mistaken for a real photo. Also no human faces, and no animals. BUT fantasy animals are okay, that's why you'll see stuff like antlers of realistic looking dogs and such. Look to the uploading guidelines for exact wording of the rules

Gore, blood and extreme content

These content are authorized, so there's no problem as long as you tag them accordingly. Blood is blood, even if it's not the focus of the animation, even if it's tasteful, even if there's only a drop.

Not entirely E6AI related

This is not FA or SF or Inkbunny. This is a booru-like style website; Normally, it's the other way around: people post here the art they have seen elsewhere and link to the source.

In short: we claim no exclusivity rights on posts

For more information on specific site, you will want to ask the people on those site.

Not E6AI related

Make a new post for that question, people won't see it here, at the bottom of that wall of text.

Updated

Thank you very much. Here’s what’s been sorted:

- Pending status
- Scores vs favorites
- Automated tags - So I can’t remove them. No worries, I’ll leave it as it is. Don’t feel the need to dive into the technical threads about it.
- Upscaling.
- Discord
- Not and not entirely realated to e6ai

Regarding the rest, a lot of answers are not quite what I was asking for or the reason I asked. Sorry for the confusion. I truly appreciate the time you took to provide those responses.

You would almost be better to ask on several threads.

Yes, you're probably right. :)

Am I in the right place for my art?
Yes, what others like is irrelevant.

You wouldn’t want to accidentally pick a rap board while working on a heavy metal track, right? That’s the idea I’m going for. I want to create something amazing that as many people as possible can enjoy, but at the same time, it’d be a waste to fill up space with content that the majority of users aren’t into or just ignore

You can check the uploading guidelines for further information; everything is there.

I did read that.

Janitors looks at the entire animation to moderate them, they'll see it's not a duplicate. If they don't, you can make an appeal.

That’s helpful to know, but it doesn’t address the rest of the question. My main concern is avoiding the need for an appeal in the first place. I also wanted to know if it’s technically possible for someone to change a thumbnail, or if there’s a workaround, like manually editing the first frame. I’m also thinking about the users I don’t want to upset, even if my uploads don’t break any rules. I mean users who don't click on those, being like ‘Ugh, those spammers are cluttering up the board again'

Image Resolution
I just wanted my feedback to be heard. It’d be great if it led to a reconsideration, because this kind of algorithmic approach might not fully achieve the purpose it was meant to serve. I know I can appeal. I've read through other threads on the topic, but thanks anyway. I don’t plan to appeal, since I don’t see it as a problem, nor do I feel personally mistreated. I also don’t believe the moderator did anything wrong.

Upscaling
Yes, I think that’s what you mean by "stretching." I just wanted to clarify whether this would be seen as an attempt to "trick the system" and get a post approved that doesn’t actually meet the requirements.

I want them to share their work on as many sites as possible, but ultimately, it’s their choice. I’m not concerned about what’s allowed according to e6ai's rules; my main concern is that they don’t waste their time or get frustrated because someone posted their art somewhere they didn’t want it to be. It's in everyone’s best interest to support the most talented AI creators.

Photorealistic images are accepted if there is absolutely no way to be mistaken for a real photo.

It’s videos/AI animations. They can definitely be mistaken, but with the lighting and image style, it looks more like a movie or commercial shot than something filmed in real life. But I’ve got my answer now - it’s not allowed unless it’s a dragon. And if the woman looks real with a clearly visible face (even though the face is AI-generated, probably not based on any single real person), it’s still a no. Got it.

blood

These content are authorized, so there's no problem as long as you tag them accordingly. Blood is blood, even if it's not the focus of the animation, even if it's tasteful, even if there's only a drop.

I don’t want to upload something that’ll upset hundreds of users. Sometimes AI generates comically large amounts of blood, and other times it behaves realistically, which can result in a pretty graphic imagery. Occasionally, it might even be mistaken for gore.

Make a new post for that question, people won't see it here

Ah, it’s fine. I’ll just wait for the upgrade.

pat_furring said:
You wouldn’t want to accidentally pick a rap board while working on a heavy metal track, right?

The aim of the website is to be a curated artwork gallery, a museum, not a AI-flavored FA competitor. We are like a sort of HMV for furry art. The tags are music genres, and some people will never go in the XXX section.

That said, if you do it for recognition, this is not the best platform. There's no push notifications, watch lists, feeds, etc.

pat_furring said:
I also wanted to know if it’s technically possible for someone to change a thumbnail,

not that I'm aware of.

pat_furring said:

Trust me, on the internet, you will ALWAYS find someone that somehow is upset about what you do. Don't listen to them, do it for yourself and the pleasure of sharing, not for the haters.

pat_furring said:
I want them to share their work on as many sites as possible

Understandable, the only thing I can say is to ask them if they would do it or if you can do it for them.

pat_furring said:

Again, you will always find someone to belittle what you produce, the blacklist is there exactly for them.

That's why I told you to be thorough with tags, it's so the blacklist feature can do its job. If you tag a post of a blood soaked character with "blood", they can blacklist it and be done with it. If they don't like you art, they can blackist your director name, etc.

The more important is this: Take care of yourself, do stuff that brings light in your life, and let the sour crowd macerate in their own bile.

Seems like Flower and Kaleth have steered you in quite the right direction, but I'll add my two cents on some things.

pat_furring said:
I use Perchance to generate my images

Just about nothing saved from Perchance is of "e6ai quality".
It does the bare basics of AI generation, and lacks the tools that most directors use to refine their images - namely inpainting. It's also a problem that I understand exists on CivitAI's webgen, but that's neither here nor there.
However, we have absolutely zero problems if you take your gens and edit them externally - in fact, we encourage people to do that.

I want to create something amazing that as many people as possible can enjoy, but at the same time, it’d be a waste to fill up space with content that the majority of users aren’t into or just ignore

This is why we have a blacklist system (as Kaleth mentioned)
Sure, it oftens seems like there are some who choose to ignore the fact that it's there, but it is, and people do use it.
Also, just as an aside, you mentioned vore and blood, so you've vastly limited the views there. For those who do utilise their blacklists proper, I can almost guarantee that those are two things quite commonly found on the average user's blacklist.

... if it’s technically possible for someone to change a thumbnail

No. I'm not quite certain how the video thumbnails are determined, but I'm positive it's not the first frame (judging by some of my own video uploads)

I mean users who don't click on those, being like ‘Ugh, those spammers are cluttering up the board again'

We have rules against post spam in terms of prompt spam or low-effort edits, so such posts get deleted anyway. If you've familiarised yourself with the guidelines, then no doubt you'll be golden on that anyway, so don't worry too much!

Image Resolution

If you want the exact guideline, it's in the bad things to upload section and it is specifically

  • Small images: Anything below 768px in either dimension is likely to get deleted.

This means if the width OR the height is below 768px, deletion is likely. There are a few cases where exceptions are made, but they're not common.
Also note that this only applies specifically to images and not videos (at the time of writing)

Upscaling

This is in the terms of AI upscaling. Of course we allow that, but we try to make it clear that doing this often makes what might've previously been practically invisible mistakes/anomalies a LOT more obvious to us, or even create new anomalies in an image. If the effort is taken to remove those, the less likely a post is going to get deleted for "bad use of upscaling"

"stretching."

I should note that just by using any image manipulation software and using the "resize" function is probably going to deteriorate the quality of an image in a way it's just gonna get deleted for being low quality. The way Kaleth described of doing that, then putting it through img2img on low denoise is usually the safest bet (followed by inpainting whatever anomalies that may occur from doing that)

Got it.

Okay this has been misinterpreted or miscommunicated.
The specific rules are no photorealistic animals in suggestive/explicit situations, and no photorealistic depiction of human faces.

blood

Refer to my previous blacklist comment.

Now, I mean this in the most nicest way possible, but you have to have some thick skin to post on here.

Some of your posts WILL get deleted. It happens to practically everyone at the start, and often times it sends people into some of the wildest crashouts. You don't have to go too far into the forums to find some of those posts.
But us staff, and a good handful of the community will help you out with ways to bring your posts up to "e6ai quality".
You said it yourself:

It's in everyone’s best interest to support the most talented AI creators.

and there are people here who share that similar mindset. Heck, just by even saying that (and the fact that you asked for SO MUCH clarity) means - at least to me - that you'll do just fine here :D

People WILL downvote your posts (especially those who don't use their blacklists). My best advice is not to pay attention to the numbers - EVER. It'll drive you batshit without a doubt.
I'm with Kaleth here
