    It's just a myth that the military has the best technology. (During peacetime, that is. In a state of total war, they commandeer everything.)

    Some militaries have departments that keep abreast of technological advancements (like DARPA), and try to adapt them to military use, but that process takes ~20 years. It takes about the same amount of time for a technology to be economically viable in the private sector. Making a prototype that works 50% of the time, only perfect conditions, takes about 10% of the research effort. Making it work that other 49.9% of the time takes the remaining 90%.

    It's often the case that, by the time a technology is actually adopted, it's no better than something you could buy or build from parts freely available. Sometimes they even have problems when they picked something early in the design process, that people have since stopped making. For example the most advanced fighter jet in the world can't get replacement computers, because no one still has the machines to make 30 year old chips.

    Back on topic: the bottlenecks for cybernetics are power storage and brain-computer interfaces. Elon is working on the latter, and Toyota is probably closest on the former. Toyota has invested heavily in fuel cells, which can take advantage of the energy density of gasoline (100x that of a lithium battery), without a large and hot combustion generator. The weight is still a problem. But coincidentally, they've also invested in exoskeletons, making them mandatory for certain roles at their factories since 2019.

    Some bored Toyota engineers are going to make a suit of power armor before DARPA can.

    Cyberpsychosis is probably just a (tabletop) game mechanic to prevent OP builds. There's no evidence that quadriplegics suffer from psychosis or dissociative disorders at a higher rate. In fact, one of the cures for phantom pain is a trick with a fake limb and a mirror.

    People seem to change their sense of self pretty easily to accommodate the tools they're using, unusual inputs. Pilots, crane operators, even everyday drivers, don't have to think about operating the machine. They know which action they want it to do, and their nerves make it happen. You can find videos of excavators picking up an egg without cracking it, or using the arm to steady themselves on shifting ground. It's like watching an animal. The same thoughtless economy of motion.

    One group is running a long term effect study of giving people an extra prosthetic thumb on one hand. No problems so far.

    And if they can make prosthetics give the same sensory feedback as a real limb, it would all be moot.

    Malfunctions would be a huge problem. That could fry some nerves. And metal can't heal itself.

    Hacking shouldn't be possible; they shouldn't have wireless networking. A wifi-enabled foot is about the dumbest thing I can think of. (Not sure if it's better or worse than a wifi-enabled brain.)

    in my humble opinion, and this is just my opinion, you can agree to disagree but: I think it was better without the speech bubbles. Nothing screams edgy like an cookie cutter "Obey or die" lord void message.

    Depends on what it's attached to. If it's resting on skin, it would pinch. If it's bolted to bone, it would be no different from wrapping around.

    I imagined it as a stylized sensor suite, her some sort of tracker. You could fit a directional radar, olfactory tubes, EM antennae. Extra processing power and batteries in the tail. The crest is just for show.

    NGL this gives me mixed feelings. Yes, she's happy and pretty and I love that.
    On the other hand she's alone at a table loaded with sweets, which gives me a bad vibe. That's magnified since she's also overweight. I've been there.
    Then I noticed there are three drinks, so I am choosing to believe she's with friends and I'm far more comfortable with that.
    Really strong mixed feelings.
    On an up note, I like the retro pixel look. The central character is attractive and clearly comfortable with herself. I'm giving this an Upvote.

    Nice to see you're adding tails now. Despite it all, something so "Simple" can make or break a piece you spent hours on. Although positioning still seems an issue, if you keep it up and learn you'll start churning out gold in place of iron, hopefully acrueing a fan base to help support your endeavors as well!
