    if there was no shadow or grass on it, it would look like the tail is only in air.

    Body heat would be a negligible heat source compared to all the electrical and mechanical equipment on a spacecraft. Dissipating that waste heat is both very important and rather difficult because in space you're surrounded by a vacuum, the best insulator of all. If an enemy blows up your radiators or your coolant pumps lose power or anything like that, it's gonna get pretty hot in there. I would say this porn plot checks out!
