Colonel Miriam Hayes (4/16/1895 - 6/30/1986) is an emu character created by Lendri Mujina. She was initially created as a joke, being a veteran of the Great Emu War which was being treating it as if it were a real war. Later, however, her character was expanded to explore her entire lifespan.
During the Emu War, when there wasn't a battle going on, she reluctantly posed nude for them to raise morale. She realized that she enjoyed the attention and liked feeling beautiful, so after her retirement from the Emu army, she became a hobbyist nude model.
However, she was injured by a grenade in World War 2, so she tries to keep the right side of her face away from the camera to hide most of the damage. Despite this insecurity, she continued to pose throughout her life, being proud of her appearance even into old age. She only stopped after the death of her husband — her biggest supporter — in 1979, after which her health began to decline.
She continued to discuss her career, hobby, and personal life even afterward; most of the quotes by her below the image descriptions were said in the final four years of her life, while she was writing her memoirs.
