Description

"A year after her infection, Audrey was 'convinced' by her supportive cousin and friends to try running around in only her fur, while visiting in the countryside. Its cold, Christmas Eve and everyone should be inside...

Except for the late night dog walker."

"Wrapped in a big Christmas-themed blanket and skulking through the back alley like a festive thief, she got about as far as taking it off before she was spotted and introduced to a slew of surprised curses and scolding from both the walker and the dogs."

Most new werewolves spend most of their time appearing human. In a vastly human world, it is ultimately the best course. Most people aren't really comfortable with werewolves for one reason or another. But the main reason for most is fear of catching it themselves.

No one knows how it works, aside that it defies biological science and is at times blood borne and can be caught through transfusions, "blood bites" where some werewolves cut their gums or tongues to create infectious bites or simple exposure through cuts, eyes, mouths, etc.

Once the first change happens, the body wants to default to the new form. It takes doses of wolfsbane that would kill a normal human to resume a human form and only a tenuous one. Strong emotions, urges and pain can cause an embarrassing reversion in a "wild mode" mental state.

Which often results in embarrassing acts that most lycanthropes have to deal with afterwards.

Despite the both the legal support and those from both sympathetic and enthusiast souls, most of John Q public is wary, if not barely tolerant of the whole new modern situation.

For Audrey, this is a trip to get away from the city and just relax in her new default form, without having to put up with wolfsbane meds and their side effects. Her cousin thinks its pretty cool and so do her friends. But Audrey is still getting used to it.
