It has long been tradition that different Pokémon species host annual conventions. Such conventions can be the highlight of the year for many, allowing Pokémon to meet, socialise, and interact with others of their kind. Participants describe a feeling of affinity as they meet other creatures with similar needs, problems, and abilities as theirs.

Some conventions have become so large that they are held in multiple locations around the Pokémon world. The “Charizards’ Official Convention” is no exception, which last year consisted of five separate events spread over four continents. This convention traces back its origins over 50 years, to a humble beginning in the Kanto region. The convention still treats Kanto as its home, with the “Charizard’s Official Convention: Kanto” (COCK) still being the largest and most exuberant of all the regional Charizard conventions.

It is said that many Charizards enjoy COCK at least once in their lives, with a good number coming back year after year.
