Outside of Eynic, Ineo

Aether Dragons: Colloquially also known as Inean Dragons due to their concentrated presence across the Ineo Empire, these blue-toned beauties are what most Ineans occasionally see in their day-to-day lives. Because they are diverse and individualistic, generalizing them with any one description would be considered rude. However, if you were to survey the average citizen, they'd likely regard the Aether Dragons as contemplative intellectuals who "live along the coasts." That last part would describe any of the Castean Dragons, though, given their pescatarian diet.

Wait, "Castean Dragons?" Oh no, a can of worms.

Whether referring to Aether, Sun, Cloud, or Dawn dragons, or other Mynin varieties, these labels refer to heritage bloodlines, not species, with only superficial differences. At some point during the Lost Age, likely c. 30,000 BF, there was a great schism among dragonkind, resulting in the factions that would eventually become known as the Castean and Isylnic Dragons. Whereas Castean Dragons won't eat sapient species and see themselves as guardians of the realm, Isylnic Dragons ascribed to a belief in supreme domination at any cost and very nearly succeeded in driving early mankind to extinction. The definition of "species" is often drawn into question regarding whether or not it applies here to separate the two, but the Castean Dragons would prefer this distinction, wanting nothing to do with their maligned half.

Isylnic Dragons were entirely eradicated from Myn during the civil war of the Draconic Age, though they supposedly still existed upon the other continents. As people of the current era have no way to access the other continents, their fate remains uncertain, but most believe they perished from a combination of the Calamities and the World Eater Fire disaster.

The intellectual reputation stems from the fact that many of their great families have risen to positions of academic repute. Arcane academies, issure experimentation, major museums, and libraries often have some sort of association with Aether Dragons. They are also the only bloodline to have produced Ineo's Empress on several occasions, particularly during the dawn of the empire when its foundations were first being laid. Owing to their intellectual insight, many historians credit them with some of the finer constitutional laws still in use today.
