Rivermor Valley of Hollowkin Pact, Wilderbelt

Heritage Anxiety: Compared to the egg-based beastkin (the manakin), the mammalian-type beastkin (the spiritkin) came about through an entirely different ritual origin, and it was not without its consequences. While the manakin are so far removed from their animal origins that some of them do not even know which species they were based on (such as the veskula), or have much different diets, the spiritkin still have some carryover behavior from their roots.

One such behavior includes survival anxiety, resulting in the rise of smoking various herbal relaxants. This anxiety varies between individuals, with some unable to stand the more urbanized population centers. Many rural communities are overwhelmingly of the spiritkin demographic as a result.

Lore dump: Medieval, but not really

The people of the current age generally regard themselves as a medieval society, as if they're aware that more advanced civilizations could exist. This awareness stems from the cataclysmic disappearance of the Old Empire, which extended far beyond the continent of Myn. But while the Old Empire itself is gone, the overseas crops it once cultivated still remain - such as corn, as pictured.

While the original medieval society of the Druidic Age was defined as being traditionally agrarian, this second medieval age benefits from a rich, global agricultural palette. With over four times the caloric density per acre, combined with resilient crops that make more land viable for farming, the threat of famine is no longer a constant, yearly concern. This stability is felt at the highest levels of governance. Traditional feudalism can hardly function under these circumstances - not with an urbanized, bolstered middle class whose independence is secured by a reliable food supply.

Despite these advancements, the folk of Midria have maintained a technological status quo for quite some time. Industrialization is severely crippled by a lack of fossil fuels like coal and oil. Not only were these resources naturally scarce due to the planet's unique geographic history, but the previous civilization has already consumed most of the easily accessible sources. On top of this scarcity, the global culture actively stigmatizes industrialization, harboring deep scars from the cataclysm of the previous age. While today's engineers are keenly aware of certain industrial concepts, such as steel rollers and chemical distillation, these machines only operate on a small scale, and the Crown is in no rush to enact policies that would encourage it.
