You were reassigned to the newly discovered region that was named the "Forest of the Ice Giants" due to massive giant trees growing there and due to the harsh and cold climate that accompanies them most of the time.

As a top professional in the expedition corps, this assignment did not surprise anyone, including yourself. You wish you could be assigned to some warm beach area but, alas... After your terrific work on Mizutsune's behavior, even the most skeptical old geezers were forced to recognize your exceptional talent for field work (little do they know...).

When you arrive for the first time, you are amazed at the surreal and beautiful scenery of giant snow-covered trees and exceptionally fresh air. The temperature was not as cold as you imagined, but you still were glad that you took some additional warm clothes and a heavy but very sturdy and warm tent for expeditions in the harshest of environments.

The first three days were full of busy fieldwork. You document every critter and plant you encounter from the ones you did not recognize. For all these days, you did not encounter any large monsters. All around there was enough food for herbivores or even carnivores..if it had not been Deviljho obviously...

On day five you go a bit deeper in the woods and to the base of the mountains. There you find a well hidden entrance in which it seems like a cave system. The entrance was large enough to let in more or less large monsters, but the entrance itself was obscured by veins that can grow in these cold conditions.

You carefully get inside these caves and start to explore very cautiously and quietly. You leave special marks on the walls for easy escape if you need one. After about half an hour of cave exploring, you heard very quiet sounds that can be described as the very sore, heavy breathing of a person in pain.

Your curiosity wins the fight with your caution and you, with maximum quiet, slowly start to follow these sounds. After about five minutes, you arrive at a medium-sized chamber. From there you can not only hear this sound perfectly but also feel slight warmth coming from there.

Your eyes have already adjusted to the dim lighting (much thanks to the glowing ore presented in these mountains) of these caves, and now you can clearly see a silhouette of a big monster lying flat on the cave's floor. It was far from the biggest monster you see, but its size was not small at all, to say the least.

You carefully take out your binoculars and look at this monster closely... Velkhana... Completely without it ice armor. Looks like it was very seriously injured. You should know this better, signs were all around you: the absence of large monsters. From time to time you walk to frozen solid critters, but you just do not pay enough attention. This Velkhana was large enough to even swallow you whole if it wished for it, but you know what probably you will be dead long before it will decide to eat you..well..that is if this Velkhana was in normal condition.

You had already started to be super-careful and quiet, get back and prepare to run for your life at any moment, but then you heard the especially loud and heartbreaking miserable sound of them all. You stand in place, you want to cry, but you understand that miracles like with your Mizutsune friend are unique, and you were just way too lucky at that time. This has an almost impossible chance to happen again.

Your train of thoughts was interrupted by sharp felling what you were watched. You nervously gulped and looked in the direction of Velkhana. It looks at you with indifferent eyes. Looks like it changed its position while it produced the previous miserable loud sound.

You understand what it feels itself too badly and just can't react to your presence. Then Velkhana just turns away from you and continues to produce sounds full of pain... That was your last straw! F**k caution! You just can't see how this majestic creature is slowly dying in a hidden cave all alone and miserable!

You were always a softie and liked to spend a lot of time with many different critters at your grandpa's farm. Your grandpa was a very kind person and farmed only for furs and milk, but also for some other things that some of these critters could produce. Only when the animal on his farm demise because of natural reasons, then it used for meat, bones, and other things that were needed. That's why you grow up to be very kind yourself, and sometimes you play stupid games in hopes to win not stupid prizes...

You slowly approached Velkhana with your hands up, like it could save you somehow. Velkhana was clearly in pain, but it was too weak to burst it out on an uninvited intruder. You start to carefully check its body and try to find this wound to estimate what you can do. In the process, you noted that it was a medium-sized female completely without even a trace of her signature ice armor anywhere on her body. There was no blood, but you noted some vomit in one of the cave corners. You also noted traces of vomit on other surfaces. Then you find a crack in the wall from there was pouring in very warm air. This explains why you feel notable warmth while you get close to Velkhana's cave chamber.

Combining all the evidence, you come to the conclusion that Velkhana was very sick and not wounded at all. You got a bit closer to her and noted that she had a slight tremor in almost all her body. This explains why she decided to stay in this warm cave chamber. What an irony: the queen of ice is having chills...

You sat in one of the chamber's corners and start to brainstorm... You help your grandpa to heal many—many different critters from all sorts of diseases and sicknesses. After about twenty minutes, you have your "EURICA!!!" moment. This was "Grim Flu", a very serious and deadly disease. One time it was responsible for about 30%of grandpa's life stock loss. Luckily, the disease was contained and destroyed on his farm in time before damage became irreversible.

You remember to this day how to prepare basic medicine from some widespread herbs. Luckily, you have already seen all of them in your solo expedition area. You quietly try to say some encouraging words to Velkhana, but after you again see her empty eyes, you decide to not waste time at all.

You carefully walk away from her chamber and then start to sprint towards the cave exit, your marks help you a lot with this. Then you get into your mini-camp, you already get the needed herbs and all you have left to do is to prepare a hot drink from them. You do it as fast as you can. You did not know how much you would need in order to help the big monster, who is elder dragon btw. You use all your thermoses and rush back to her with your makeshift medicine. It will not cure her, but surely it should let her start to feel a bit better, and it should also halt the grim flu spreading and multiplying in her body.

You carefully enter her cave chamber, she did not even look at you. She recognizes you by your scent, which is especially strong right now after you sweat a lot. You carefully come to her muzzle with all the thermoses you bring with you. You did not think anything better than just constantly opening wide and closing your mouth. To your surprise, after the third time of your demonstration, she weakly opened her mouth. It was a little bit scary picture because you could see her throat and uvula clearly and what you really can fit in there easily enough, but that was not the time to be scared. You also noted the very pale color of her mouth inside, which was a very bad sign. You get to her mouth side and open one of your thermoses, then you demonstrate her gesture like you drink. She did not react, but you assume that she is a smart girl and..here goes nothing... You start to slowly pour your makeshift medicine as close to her throat entrance as you can master without getting in her mouth yourself. By sounds, she makes it seem that she was not a fan of this medicine taste, but you can clearly see what: 1) she did not bite off your arm, 2) she actually slowly swallowed this liquid. You give her all that you managed to make and even unknowingly start to caress her muzzle with your hand. She did not object, but she also did not react to almost anything.

You want to stay with her for some time and see how your medicine works, if at all, but you understand why you can't waste even a second. You stand up, look at her one last time, she carried you out with indifferent eyes. You run again as fast as you can to your mini-camp. From there you ask for emergency evacuation. In the report, you frame all events like you have an equipment failure and a large snowstorm was almost at your position. Luckily, this flew over without any questions, because every explorer and researcher knows how harsh the Forest of the Ice Giants can be.

You stealthily grabbed specialized medicine from the expedition inventory. You feel like a thieve, but there are plenty of this medicine, and it can also be created in Medlab if there will ever be a need for more of it. You can't tell anyone about Velkhana, or she will be captured or even killed. Anyway, in the end she will meet her demise. If not from hunters, then from the science team, then they want to see "what's inside"... Savages, you think, but..you know yourself what sometimes it's the only way to know what must be known... Well... They may get their hands on her corpse soon enough if your medicine was not effective at all...

After just two days in the main camp, you get to your field mini-camp. All was in the same state as you left it, you only need to clear some snow here and there, but you have a totally different emergency task at hand... You rush to Velkhana's cave chamber and prepare yourself for the worst, but to your surprise, you run into a very weak but standing on all fours majestic creature. You noted some new traces of vomit in the corner, but it was not as dark-colored as it previously was. Velkhana sat on the cave floor. She still has tremors, but her eyes have a little bit more life in them. You shoved to her prepared medicine in advance and showed to her gulping motion. She caught up fast and after your second demonstration she again opened her mouth. You, like a skillful basketball player, throw stack of this medicine combined in a ball shape right at the base of her tongue. She swallowed this "ball" without hesitation. Feels like you have already gained some of her trust. Then she just lay on the cave floor ignoring your presents. Looks like she fell asleep. You decide not to disturb her and get back to your field mini-camp. You also have a lot of work to do, and you should use this time to catch up to your work plans.

You come to Velkhana every two days. You bring her some of the small critters you found before encased in her ice. She ate them all, and you also noted that there are no traces of new vomit. She has already started to roam the cave system and even hunt a little bit. This meant she did not want to harm you or else she was already in a condition that she could do it easily.

A whole month ended like this. From day to day, you can see that her condition is better and better. On one day, you did not see her in her usual cave chamber. You think that she maybe hunts far away or just start to be strong enough to just fly away to some other place fee from grim flu.

That day, when you returned to your mini-camp, it was already late. The sky was very beautiful and the scenery overall was just awe-striking. You decide to prepare a campfire a bit away from your tent under one of these giant trees to fully enjoy this scenery and be in warmth at the same time. Weather also was very kind today. No snow, no clouds and almost no winds, very rare weather for the Forest of the Ice Giants.

Then you just sit and enjoyed your time, you heard something massive descending towards you from the sky. You look up and see how Velkhana gracefully flew down to you in her partially grown ice armor. She descended almost at your head, but she did it with such grace and precision that you and your little cozy place were completely intact. She brings you a gift, it seems: a frozen solid small (for her) mammal with thick fur. You awkwardly thanked her, maybe she will understand your intention by the sounds you produce. You look at her with wide eyes. She is a very majestic and beautiful creature. How someone can hunt such a beauty, you think, but then you remember that not all big monsters live a quiet life far away..humans sometimes must fight for their place under the sun too unfortunately...

Then your gaze noted something else... Her big scalie pussy was very close to your face... It was accidental, yes, but for you this picture was very arousing thanks to your Mizutsune friend experience, and you know that sometimes monsters are only humans...

Velkhana looks down at you questioningly, and you don't know what to do, but your hand is already traveling up and down her thigh. She produces a soft sound, and you believe that this is a sign that she likes it. Then you decide to be more confident and bold and start to gesture to her to get a little bit closer to the ground. She seemed not to understand you as you hoped, but then she crotched a bit closer to the ground. You did not waste any time and put your naughty mouth and mind to work. She looked down at you calmly, as this is something you should always do, then you two meet like that. Well..this demeanor is very suitable for such a majestic and strong creature like Velkhana and you just continue to enjoy yourself.

After some time, she came without any warnings or sounds. Your face and part of your clothes were covered in her juices, which were warm and had almost no taste. You feel like you licked an icicle just now, but warm. She watches you for a few seconds, then she produces a quiet and pleasantly calm sound. Then she just jumped in the air right from your position and after just a few seconds she was already far away, flying towards her caves. You believe you have found another friend who was conquered by your kindness, determination and bravery..also probably by your tongue and mouth as well... Now back to field work..after you clean and dry..you also have a lot of papers to fill...

Two days after your pleasant activity with Velkhana, you found a carcass of a Banbaro. This carcass has large ice crystals on it. You think that it was one of the Velkhana's hunts, and it was not that long ago. All things considered, you decide to take a sample of this carcass. After research in the lab at the main camp, your fears were confirmed: grim flu was present in the sample... If Velkhana stays in that area she can get this disease again, maybe the second time will not be as bad, but it will still be possible to succumb to it. You decide to start learning how you could make a makeshift medicine by yourself that can be used to cure grim flu. Luckily, your friends at Medlab gladly agreed to help you with that. No one thought that your endeavors were suspicious because they know that you almost always work alone and this is another measure of yours to survive and help transport wyverns on long expeditions. The Forest of the Ice Giants is off limits now. You were granted permission to continue to explore it, but you were forced to move your mini-camp farther away from the mountains. It's better than a full ban. With these thoughts you start to plan your next solo expedition...
