Reunited

Playing around with adding more sound, not sure if I hit the mark.
Plus a small story to match.

She moved like shadow, her spotted pelt catching glints of the dim light as she padded along the narrow path. Every scent told a story, every sound a warning. When a shape broke from the treeline ahead, tall and heavy-shouldered, she felt her pulse surge. Her jaws parted, gleaming fangs bared as a warning roar rolled through the dark to claim her ground.

The stranger did not retreat. His stance was steady, his glowing eyes unflinching. As he stepped closer, the contours of his body began to emerge — the familiar cut of his shoulders, the way his tail flicked once before stilling, the quiet strength in his posture. Recognition struck her. That frame, that presence — it was him.

Stunned with sudden relief, her roar faltered, dissolving into the rumble of something softer. The scent followed next — wild grass, rain, and the faint trace of home. He closed the distance carefully, until they stood breath to breath. His hand lifted to her face, warm and rough against her skin. A deep purr rolled from her chest, primal and tender at once. His thumb brushed the curve of her muzzle, and she leaned into his touch, eyes half-closed as the forest fell away around them. The night belonged only to their breath, their heartbeat, and the ancient promise that still bound them.
