Hand written lore by Tsavo himself

The Tangrineer are an uncommon race found about. Creatures of illusion, they use their powers to alter the perception of parts of reality with a clarity and effectiveness on par with reality. They can render magics onto people or items nearly at will, but only if there is a strong enough emotion backing it. But when they do, few powers can see through them. Invisibility, the power to think another is speaking your language naturally and even forms of similar size to convincing degrees as if they were real in any conceivable situation to all the senses, even magical ones. Although not actually a terribly violent race, they are capable of it. Preferring their skills in trap making and illusion to accomplish their goals. They are also not above using a knife or stone to cause arm if angry or desperate enough. Despite this, their reputation has been besmirched as they are often the “scapegoat” for any unfortunate and embarrassing ends and crimes for members of human communities. Rather than admit they died because of sheer reckless stupidity or drunkenness or caused a crime while such, it is easier to blame a Tangrineer as the culprit. Professing that their sense of reality was distorted by one. As a result, they are outcasts in most human societies. Their origins are also born from a notorious curse. Their mother was a powerful and both famous and infamous illusionist of feminist beliefs. Using her powers to make herself beautiful and scorning men while espousing woman as a superior sex. She made the mistake of scorning a powerful, god-like sorcerer, who used his powers to trick her into mating with an especially large goat. Then cursed the land it happened in to give all those who slept in it, to dream only of her night with the goat. Even at times dreaming of the experience as if they were her, regardless if the dreamer was a man or a woman. The incident ruined her reputation and eventually the small kingdom of Tanngrisnir. As all denizens were forced to leave for sanity’s sake. But the curse went beyond this: The illusionist bore children from her mating with the goat and found them to bear both human and goat characteristics. Despite their bestial features, they were all blonde and beautiful girls with brilliant green eyes, just as she always wished she was naturally. And each were capable of creating illusions naturally. She could not bare to destroy them and raised her daughters to use their powers to effectively hide their true natures and appear as beautiful human versions of themselves. These daughters had daughters of their own and so forth, until the tangrineer became a female race among man. But once they were discovered and blamed for many ills, they were driven into the wilds or destroyed. Thus, becoming an almost nymph like creature that lived in the wilds as legends. All tangrineer are female and can only produce females. Due to the family curse. As a result, they must find men to mate with to continue their species. Often beguiling lone travellers or in small groups, carefully. All are taught to abandon their men, since discovery of their true natures would risk destruction by them. Some can’t help wanting a meaningful relationship and are unwilling to do so and are banished from their communities. Their fates tied to the man they have given their heart. Tangrineer typically don’t wear clothing, using illusions to pick any of their taste at a moments notice. But they do wear enchanted bracers and other jewelry, that sometimes glow with power. These items are mana wells. Since their illusions are limited in size and number, they use these sources of stored magical power to maintain illusions without taxing themselves. Or even storing some when needed that they can bestow onto another user as an enchanted item. A ring of invisibility, translation or even glamour can be created for their significant other or children. There are some legends that some tangrineer mothers had enchanted jewelry for their daughters when born, making them appear human to even themselves. These daughters grew up thinking they were human, only to discover that they were not after losing their jewelry to a thief or realizing they could cast illusions themselves and learning the truth. Legends that have found themselves a part of human stories and sayings.Other, more positive legends do tell of tangrineer that rescue wayward travellers and guide lost children back home. Some even using their powers to guide them as lights. Some legends even say that if a tangrineer was ever to bear a male of their species, he would be the one to end their curse and return them to humanity with their powers intact. This latter legend being more of a tangrineer hope.
