Ember, The Lynarii.

- Ember story arc part 2.

As an explorer of X.E.G.O -Xenognosis- Her mission usually would be to explore the universe, searching and observing every living xeno species. But X.E.G.O wanted Ember because of a recent and fairly unusual discovery; A biomechanical planet was found in the system REDACTED. This is extremely unusual and X.E.G.O want to study it but a usual explorer isn’t qualified for this task. X.E.G.O asked Ember to keep the mission secret. But anyway, it’s an honor to be part of X.E.G.O.

When arriving in the orbit of the planet

“Wow ! So cool ! It’s going to be something ! Need to find a spot for the vessel…here !”

Ember is landing her ship in a grove like place. She took her tools and got out of the ship after having done some scans. The planet was dark colored, grey and black colors mostly, but with blue glows and lights.

“It’s like paradise for the eyes ! Look at…EVERYTHING !!! Whooooo !”

She was jumping on place happily, tail wagging. A entire planet made of cybernetics just for her to analyze and explore ? Heaven, it would even be more heavenly with her assistant, sadly he couldn’t accompany her.

“BUT ! Before doing anything, come here my little workshop.”

She grabbed a small cube from her backpack and she posed the cube on the ground, took some steps back and then pushed a button on a remote. The cube then emitted some sparks and light, and then POOF ! A workshop appeared, an old looking one. Made of grey walls with some cracks on them and wooden planks. The front door is mechanical and there is a sign made of gears and others metallic objects on the wall next to it, it’s written “Ember’s Den’”.

“Owww my little home :3, I could never live without you ! And now, my miniaturization tech is used in the X.E.G.O vessels.”

It was her first workshop, way too dearly loved to be abandoned on her home planet, so she crafted a miniaturization tech just for it even if he is somewhat crumbling on itself.

“Well, I have all the time I need to do whatever I want ! Hehehe ! I wonder if the planet can know if I am here ? I doesn’t see anything looking at me. Bah. I have my weapons and gadgets anyway. A little EMP will be enough to disrupt any menace if needed, even if the planet is also biological. Okay so, I need to set a perimeter around the ship and the workshop with an alarm. What a burden, I want to test thinnnngs !”

And so, she worked on setting a security perimeter, it’s fascinating for her to see insects and plant life being also cybernetic, poor littles ones, some of them will be “disassembled” for science. Now that the perimeter is set, she decided to collect some sample, mostly insects. And she plan to try a connection with a tree later.

“Littles creepers, come see mommy ! We gonna play all the evening !”

She is going to play, they are going to…well…suffer.

Later in the evening

“Seeing that level of compatibility between the living and the cyber is on another level. It’s pure symbiosis. So, all the planet is like this ? Hmmm…that give me some ideas. AWWWW ! I’m getting tired…I will continue to do the tests tomorrow morning…but I want to call my lovely assistant before.”

She uses her tablet for that, she can connect it remotely to her vessel.

“Hellooo my little assistant ! The great chief Ember is here to do her report !”

Assistant: “Hello my little fluffy Chief 😊 So, how was the travel ?”

“Fine, it’s been a while since I space travelled. I miss you so much, you have no idea :’(“

Assistant: “It’s hard for me too, but you are the one who will be harder at the end of the day…”

“Oh you ! But you are right, it’s okayyy I know you will be more than happy -and eager- to alleviate any tension I could have hehe.”

Assistant: “Anything for my little fluffy chief 😊”

“Anyway, I need to go, I am so tired, but I am not alone, I have my little Lily with me !”

Assistant: “If Lily is here, I don’t need to worry, sleep well <3”

“U too <3”

Then, Ember took the direction of her bed but…

“But, where is my…oh no ! Maybe under the bed, the miniaturization tech was not perfect when she created the cube, there is always something getting lost somewhere.”

Ember searched around her bed and under, luckily, she found her ermine plush, with brown and white fur, so cute. It was a gift from her best friend, Lily.

“Found you ! I love you my little Lily ! Now I can sleep, goodnight Lily !”

The plush didn’t answer, but she got a big cuddle. The next morning, Ember continued to study the critters and she tried a connection with a tree with her mechanical arm in the afternoon.

“The level of symbiosis is truly unique here, I want to try a connection, mostly to see if I feel something in my arm. Let’s link this cable in this port, and then in the tree…anywhere, while I collect the data on my tablet.”

She then plugged the cable in the tree and…

“I have a reaction ! I can feel something ! There is a lot of data…too much actually, better disconnect before everything blow up. Hmmm…interesting, I need to think about this a look at the data before trying another connection.”

Ember took one day to organize the data on her computer.

“Hmmm. From what I understand, I was connected to a perimeter around the tree, the data are a transfer between the ground, the tree, and me. This is a web. But I lack the equipment to do good progress, the planet is way too unique.”

She took a moment to think, while cuddling Lily.

“What would Lily will say if she was here ? “I don’t understand this numbers, but maybe you are not compatible ? Mommy always say it’s important to be compatible with daddy !” BUT YES ! Praise the Lily’s voice in my head !”

Compatibility, a better understanding could be possible with the right compatibility ! Ember knew what to do, she will work on a new arm, not a mechanical but a cybernetic one with the biomechanical matter of the planet ! She could also do the same for her tablet. Yes, this could work. It took some days to create her new arm, and oh god she was happy, she never thought she will feel like she never lost her arm ! It’s like a normal part of her body, not clunky, not heavy, it will be a life changer.

“The sensations are great ! This is so strange, it’s partially biologic and cybernetic, yet I feel like it’s mine. And I like the blue stripes I painted on it hehe. What do you think Lily ? “Ohhh ! it’s so smooth ! It’s funny !” You will surely say that yes. I now have a very good precision with my cyber fingers. Plus, I know have the connection cables integrated in the arm. The tablet is not finished but I want to try a connection again. Come here my tree.”

While exiting her workshop, she (barely) saw a strange blue light moving at one of the windows, she didn’t mind that much, she was way too curious to try her arm. Anyway, all the lights are blue here.

“So, cable out, and poof !”

She then connected it to the tree, but it wasn’t the same as before, she could feel way more deeply the perimeter, and it was larger, the biological parts seemed to be more integrated with her body then she initially thought. She could “feel” the data moving and the pumping of the “cyber blood”. She felt she was like some sort of…a part of the planet. Could she manipulate it a little ? She tried…but to no avail, but somewhat, it could technically be possible.

While she was focused on the connection, she didn’t saw she was observed, but the observer was very focused on what he is seeing. And that observer wants more data, for that, he will need to be very close to Ember. Because what Ember didn’t knew is; she was observed since she landed, she was not the only one curious here. It was then decided, the observer will trick Ember. But right now, he saw Ember unplug her cable.

“Wow. What an experience ! I feel so weird, like I am more myself than I was while connected. I was a part of the planet ? I felt a lot of things, this is hard to describe, I need to finish the tablet before doing more tests.”

When walking to her workshop, Ember heard a big sound, something fallen hard not far.

“Uh ? What’s that ? It was something heavy. Let’s go see…”

The observer did it on purpose, he was now waiting, playing dead.

“What’s this ? It looks like a clock, but certainly isn’t. Some sort of a drone ?”

She gave him some hits, just to be sure there was no risks. No response from the object.

“Well, I will take it..it’s a little heavy, I will…roll it !”

The plan of the observer is working. She rolled the observer to her workshop, and put him on a table.

“What a big baby…let’s see what’s inside of you.”

Ember tuned her back to take some tools of her red toolbox, while doing it, her cyber arm started to not answer to her body. The observer took control of it and was hovering behind her.

“My arm ? What is ?”

Observer: “Hello subject, I am the observer. You studied us while we were observing you. You succeed to use our matter to make this arm, it gave us a lot of data about what you are made of. We now need to study you more closely. No harm is intended. Stay still, we took control over your arm, he will help us while we proceed.”

“WAAAAH !!! IT TALK ! WHAT STUDY ?!”

Cybernetics tentacles came from the observer, they undressed Ember and immobilized her on her wooden desk, legs up, while the cybernetic arm helped to support her on the position.

“WHAT SORT OF STUDY IS THIS ?!”

Observer: “We need genetic samples, we never saw a living being, you are not like us. Stay still, we will proceed, the process will not arm you.”

The observer took control over the perimeter, more cybernetic tentacles came in the workshop from outside to help the process. One of them have the tip lubed.

“AH ! I think I know where this is going…what a cliché. Lily ! Close your eyes ! you are too young to see that. HEY ! OBSERVER !”

Observer: “What do you want from us ? The procedure will start very soon.”

“Can you turn the back of the little plush on my bed please ? The brown a white animal like creature.”

Observer: “We can do.”

A tentacle turned the plush on her bed. Now Lily won’t see anything, how kind of Ember to protect children plushs.

“Thanks. Well…relax Ember, you already know what’s going to happen, Let’s at least enjoy this…okay do your procedure, it’s not like I have a choice in this anyway.”

Observer: “Staying still is better for everybody, thanks for your cooperation.”

Ember was immobilized in a very practical position, the observer certainly studied her flexibility. But he was not maintaining her very tightly, this helped Ember to be cooperative and relax. Meanwhile you can continue to call this unit “Observer”. While you do your experiments, Observer will assist you and cooperate, you study us, we study you.”

“Fair enough, it’s going to be very interesting to work directly with you ! But don’t took control over my arm in the future please, it was very disturbing.”

Observer: “Request acceptable, we also have a request before leaving, can you make us a Ember plush ?”

Ember was surprised but amused.

“Oh hum, yes, if you want, I can do that : )”

Observer: “Appreciated, we will take care her like you take care of Lily, see you soon.”

And Observer departed.

“Well, I need to wash a little and I will work on…not the tablet for now, I want to talk to my lovely assistant !”

After a little washing, Ember called her assistant.

Ember: “Hello my LUV ! How are you ?”

Assistant: “Fine, everything is going well here, and you ? Are you going home soon ? But hey, you have a new arm !”

Ember: “Well, it’s fine, the events of the day were amazing but also quite unexpected to be honest, I can’t talk about it as you know, not immediately at least. I suppose it’s not going to be a problem after the mission, I hope. And yes, I have a new arm, I still have the other but I needed to create a new one for the mission and it feel very real, it’s very different from the last one. But…I can’t explain the details right now, I am so sorry…it’s saddening me so much…BUT ! I did a great advance on the mission, so I am fairly sure that I will be able to come see you soon !”

Assistant: “Nice ! I want so much to hug you right now, this is horrible…”

Ember: “I knowwwww, me tooooooooo…AWWWW !”

Assistant: “Say, there is something I never asked you and I thought about it recently, when we met the first time, you said that you created your armor, but when you said skimpy…it was an acronym no ? What does S.K.I.M.P.Y mean ?”

Ember: “Hehe, well, it stands for Sexy, Kinky, Indecent, Marvelous, Peachy, Yummy x3”
