Topic: Unify the e621 and e6AI staff teams

Posted under General

Hello. I want the staff of e621 and e6AI to be unified, as it is not fair that both pages are managed by different teams. They should be managed by a single team. The e621 team is against generative AI, when generative AI could serve as a source of inspiration for artists to create their drawings. I tried to tell people to re-enable my ability to post images, but they refused, saying that I am helping to train AI models.

It will never happen. The sites (and therefore the staff) are separated for a reason.

I remember that forum thread on e621, and you were the one who said you were uploading DNP content to help train AI models, which is why you were restricted.

Hi again! No. Even if we did, I can tell you that you would never have your uploads enabled, as it's abundantly clear you haven't learned a thing, & would immediately resume posting the works of people who have made it clear they do not want their works submitted. If you need a refresher on why we will never allow that - & that extends to this site too, by the way - , then you're welcome to review the warning I gave you the last time you attempted to flout your restriction and advocated for unambiguous copyright infringement - as though it wouldn't result in the site getting sued off the face of the Earth. Here's a relevant quote:

It's not fair that certain posts are deleted because some artists don't want their work published on this site and become lost media, or that only artists can post those images.

If you think it's unfair, don't blame site staff, blame legislators; this is US copyright law.
[Source]

[T]he Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act ("OCILLA"), creates a safe harbor for online service providers (OSPs, including ISPs) against copyright infringement liability, provided they meet specific requirements. OSPs must[, among other things,] promptly block access to alleged infringing material (or remove such material from their systems) when they receive notification of an infringement claim from a copyright holder [...] (a "notice and takedown" process).

Besides, if we were to pick a single team to manage both sites, which one do you think would be preserved?

In all seriousness, I genuinely hope you feel more comfortable on this site, but please keep in mind why your uploads were disabled; it had nothing to do with our opinions on AI. After all, I'm pretty clearly capable of putting my emotions on the matter to the side. Please do not violate e6ai's avoid posting list; just because they support AI generation doesn't mean they'll support you violating their rules in service of that.

Please don't cause this staff team the same trouble you did ours. They have their own rules - some different, some the same. Please read them & respect them.

Yours truly,

Sigh... Ok, since people aren't thinking this through, I'll also remind everyone that e621 takes significantly more resources to moderate than e6ai due to its size; the average approval time on here is significantly less than on e621, there's more troublemakers to dish out records to & a lot more tickets reporting them, there's just a lot more everything.

If the teams merged, you'd be accepting a drastically reduced focus from your staff as they work to even out the load across the 2 sites, & either numerous errors would be made on both sites or there'd be a harsh & sudden change in staff responses due to the different moderation approaches & rules between the 2 sites' teams. Does that really sound like what you want?

Their attitude towards AI isn't the only reason you favor e6ai's staff; they have the luxury to be more intimate & responsive with their users than we on e621 do, & I guarantee you that would change right quick if they suddenly had e621 dumped on their plate.

Hell yeah. Ambitious and the right move to make!

I suppose ambitious is an appropriate word to describe this individual, though admittedly not my first choice. As for the proposition, I'd personally favor "short-sighted" as a descriptor.
