Topic: [Feature] Subscription/Follow option

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Hello Everyone!

This topic was discussed briefly a few days ago and I thought it would be a wonderful idea!

It would be a really nice idea of adding a subscription feature for the site.

This meaning it'll allow user's to "Follow" or "Subscribe" to other user's to keep track of their latest uploads and such.

Possibly add a feature to let user's comment on each other's profile's kinda like how is staff members can comment on other's profiles, but for normal user's! This would encourage user's to interact and communicate with each through the site and help grow user's profile bios.

Maybe even add a feature for user's to rate and give feedback for other user's accounts. This would greatly help staff members keep track of user's history better and allow user's to interact with staff regarding whatever.

Sure, but it would be nice to have it on the actual site rather then a 3rd party source.

just like all the features from re6 to be part of the site instead of being from another script
but counter argument that it would just increase the workload for being part of the site and could just easily break and would require much more attention and testing
while re6ai/re621 is not a main project

both can have redirections of attention

Even as a re6ai user, I think this is a great idea. +1

I'm of two minds about this, personally. Sure, I'm one of those people who utilises their bio page with all the wank of coloured text and sections etc, even knowing full well there aren't many who might see it.
While I think encouraging such interaction is great, I think it may make more work in the long run, if people leave rude comments or whatever. The potential for arguments breaking out when it's in a more "direct" space seems more likely, and there seems to be more of a history of people losing their shit before/instead of using the "report" feature.

Not keen on this idea. Similar argument to the comments, except I think this opens up things like manipulating such a feature if there's someone people don't like, or on the flipside, having a user manipulate their own "score" into high positives or whatever - either with alt/bot accounts or off-site groups/chats/etc.
Basically I'm trying to say that while directors should be proud of their work and that people are allowed to be fans of said directors, I've seen enough egotism and self-importance from a few people on this website that giving them a way to compare themselves to others and go "look how much better people think I am than ___" isn't a great idea.

Also, to throw in an idea based on what someone was asking about on the Discord (and could potentially be a counter to my thoughts on the comment feature) would be a user blocking feature.

Just here to bang the "THIS!" sign to eveything sergalbutt said above.

I definitely want to follow/subscribe to some artists, I think that one is absolutely a no-brainer.

Everything past that gets more and more fraught.
