Topic: What is the reason for the differential treatment of AI - No advertising rule

Posted under General

Why has the policy changed? Why now? Why does it discriminate for E6AI when on E621 it is allowed?

E6 management found this practice to be immoral, and we have complied with their request.

The practice of paywalling content that is ostensibly cheap to create and has no inherent copyright, things were just too rife with abuse: private discord servers, Patreon-only uncensored versions, and the like. The decision was made to allow for "tip-jar" like situations where the content is accessible to anyone for free, but that people can choose to pay the director if they feel like doing so.

Ok so E6 management sees AI artists as not deserving of the same respect and privileges, as lesser.

cheap

I'm being told by the biggest furry artists that manual art too is cheap to make, just pick up a pen.

copyright

Where did this delusional idea that AI is not copyrightable come from? Images with AI elements are being copyrighted left and right. I used to work with EPO, I have friends there even now. You can easily copyright AI, but you cannot copyright it while also explicitly stating that it is AI, because there is simply no framework for it.

I unno, law maybe? Decisions made by the US Copyright Office? The courts?
All three? Lets go with "all three."

I think you hit the nail on the head and answered your own question. 🤪

I'm new here and this is the first time I clicked on forum. I spent 2 days on the art I created for my first submission here (because I'm learning and I'm a perfectionist!). And I still am going to side with E6 management. I don't want this website to become one big cluster**** of advertisement, every image with a link to the "actual" content. No one is saying you can't monetize your content elsewhere. But why not have at least one sacred space where things are free and shared here. Without knowing more and just stumbling on this thread, I hope I'm not just spewing nonsense. If anything e621 should have a no advertising rule as well.

This is one of the best decisions E6 management has made in a long time tbh. People paywalling their shit pollutes the site for the rest of us
