Topic: Site search limited to two keywords?

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Hey,

I noticed something unusual on the website. I can't seem to search the image posts with more than two keywords any more. If I do, I get a blank white screen. For example, searching for "anthro male" works fine, but doing "anthro male smile" does not. I do remember this wasn't happening not so long ago (like a few weeks or so).

Thanks.

As far as I know there's no change server-side that would reduce the number of terms you can search in a query to be that low.

Maybe you've accidentally blacklisted one of the term you're looking for?

For info, searching anthro male smile returns me about 16.2k posts

Could you also clarify what you mean by "blank white screen"? We're going to need more information to diagnose this. What browser are you using? What platform (desktop or mobile)? Any extensions or user scripts installed? Is the page totally completely blank, or is it just the post section that's empty? Because I'm not aware of any site theme that uses white as a main colour...

This is strange. Now the search function appears to be fully functional once again.

By "blank white screen" I meant an empty web page that is completely blank, fully white in color and has no visible elements on it. I'm using Firefox 153.0.3 on Desktop (Kubuntu Linux 26.04). The search function worked properly with a single or a combination of any two keywords, but as soon as a third keyword was added to the search (either by clicking the + sign next to a tag or by typing it into the textbox manually), it resulted in a blank white page.

I'm not sure, it was happening for about two weeks, but now I can't seem to reproduce it any more.
I can now search again with multiple keywords without issues.

You were hitting a Cloudflare challenge page, but it wasn't functioning in your browser for whatever reason. That specific one about tags you was just removed (turns out it wasn't doing much), that's why you can't reproduce the issue. There are some troubleshooting instructions here in case it happens again, because that's not only place you might encounter such a challenge page.
