Topic: Suggestion: Automatic metainfo tag addition

Posted under General

A new mechanic for viewing image prompts has been added to the site. It’s very useful, but there’s no way to know which images have prompts unless someone adds the tag manually.

Unfortunately, most users aren't adding these tags, even when the images contain metadata. My suggestion is that the site itself should automatically add the prompt_metainfo tag whenever it detects the existence of metainfo.

what if the image doesnt have the metadata that counts as prompt but still has one in the metainfo field
it would be broken
plus there is a bunch of tags that it's truly up to the uploader to add said tag
i believe this tag is one of them

I think it’s easier to fix a few hundred false positives than to check thousands of images to see if the 'prompt_metainfo' tag was added or not.

The problem with that is hardcoded automatic tags like what you are suggesting can't be removed from posts, so if a false positive happens it can't be fixed. I just tried this on one of my animated tagged posts, as that is one such hardcoded auto-tag, and it did not let me remove it.

I noticed in a recent post (post #164264), that pressing the prompt button there brings up information but isn't prompt information, so that would already be one such false positive that I stumbled upon.

My idea isn't bad, but I think the devs need to fix the fixed tags bug first. I'm going to set this idea aside until that's resolved.
