I'm on the e6ai discord from time to time. If someone manages to create a replacement site I'll be there. In the meantime I'm considering hosting my own site as a stopgap, or perhaps X / twitter. Most likely any account or site I create will be under the name "Leetoraptor".

Sad news.
To find decent AI-generated images on other sites, you have to sift through tons of junk. Here however, such trash doesn't make it past moderation.
And sorry, but frankly, many hand-crafted work are no better than create AI. Still have to dig through tons of garbage to find any decent work, because the moderation process lets even the most amateurish scribbles (for example, on e621 itself).
But if I understood correctly the saddest part is that they won’t even keep the site up in an archived state.

Yeah, I thought about making a thread in furry diffusion or e6ai's server, but it would probably be very inconvenient for both me and everyone else. It would also require a discord account just to read, which I'd really hate.

And I don't know if age verification would be needed. I recall there was some ruckus not too long ago about them wanting to see an ID for adult servers (then the IDs got leaked). That's a no go for me.

I am incredibly sorry to everyone who followed and enjoyed my content and the story behind it. There were only a few more images (4–5) left to share. Just an FYI but posting thinly veiled artist hate and conspiracies justifying it in a roundabout way are part of the reason no one likes AI and it's proponents and are only proving them right on every front. The fact that e6ai existed in the first place, by the same people that made a regular art booru, was always a double edged sword and the fact it survived for as long as it did is honestly a miracle. A lotta people could use being a bit more mindful of the tools they are using, and especially of the artists they are literally prompting.

I made this script for those of you wishing to download a bunch of images.

Just paste it into a powershell window in the directory you want the images saved and give your tags (fav:<yourusername> will get all your favorites, works with normal e6ai search query syntax as well.)

If you have a lot of favorites, it will take quite some time to download. The script intentionally does not download images in parallel to be nice to the e6ai servers.

Obligatory DON'T RUN RANDOM POWERSHELL SCRIPTS ON YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DO. If you aren't scripting savvy, throw it into an LLM or even google AI search and ask if it is safe.

civitai.red is an absolute mess. I can't even begin to understand how it works. There are some interesting furry works, but no artist gallery linked to them. It looks more like DA (which I never understood either) that to e6ai or any regular image board.

From an insider I spoke to: E6AI is being shut down due to pushback from the broader community and a series of targeted campaigns, not because the BD or E621 staff gave up on the site.

AI gens are still, and will likely remain for a long time, deeply unpopular in a community created and dominated by physical creatives, as well as much of society at large. Whether that should be the case is academic.

BD and E6 received a massive amount of hate for even starting a dedicated AI gallery in the first place, but it was believed that denying the medium entirely wasn't the right move, and that this new tool should be given its own space to explore and curated the same way that E6 itself is (including having upload standards, which was its own, separate drama). I'm sure it was hoped that, over time, it would be left alone to do its own thing. But, again, folks within the larger community caused a scene that forced decisions to be made.
