        It's interesting to see that something Grok Imagine allowed people to do just half a year ago is no longer allowed, while this Chinese model still allows it.

        Now I came across your video and noticed that the voice sounds similar, and even the sight at the end caught my attention - Grok used to insist on adding that to most of my generations on its own a few months ago. That's exactly what happens in your video too - right at the end. Did you specifically prompt for it?
        I'm wondering whether there might actually be some connection between the two models.
        Anyway, nice character and video :))

        Actually no, i didn't ask for the sigh at the end, just that she be tired and to say the lines with unperformative weight and head tilt at the end.

        Because some AI models make it difficult, or sometimes outright impossible, to get a different voice. There are also days when models that normally produce varied, good-quality audio suddenly regress to something generic or even strangely sounding.

        “Tired” would probably explain it.

        If you ever notice this happening again in the future, could you let me know? I'm curious whether xAI might have shared the Grok model with MiniMax - or perhaps “shared” it without even knowing they did. ;) Another possibility is that they both obtained some part of their training data from the same source.

        Whatever the explanation is, I find it really interesting. The voice does sound somewhat similar to the one used by Grok, although that "sigh" could obviously just be a coincidence. But if there actually is some connection, that would be very interesting to investigate.

        It would also be interesting from the perspective of what the model is capable of, because I really miss the old Grok Imagine model. It was considerably better than the current model, even when generating completely SFW content. Or maybe it's actually the same model and they just nerfed it to reduce the compute cost. Who knows.

        It might help to give vocal guidance to the AI: Specify a regional lilt; suggest when to raise and lower pitch, either directly with octave/note references or with suggestive words (conspiratorially, sultry, giddy); reject monotone speech; request variation over a pair of octaves, or significant variance within a single octave; and of course provide direction on the character's emotional state and delivery.

        Windows TTS allowed you change how they talked back in the day, and there's no saying that modern AI wouldn't know what to do with those tags if asking the AI to be varied isn't enough.
