Most often worn during summer, yukata are multipurpose robes that can be used as bathwear, loungewear, and even as sleepwear. These fall under Japanese casual wear.

Yukata are usually made of cotton. As a rule of thumb, older people generally wear monochrome yukatas (traditionally dark blue), while more colorful patterns and floral print are common among young females.

Often worn with geta, and usually fastened with a sash-like obi.
