A front entry sexual position in which the recipient of penetration is positioned on_top of the giver, of whom faces toward their head while they lie on their back.

The position is referred to as cowgirl regardless of the genders of the individuals involved; there is no 'cowboy position', so even a male being penetrated by a female using a strap-on, the position name remains the same, as they are the roles being assumed.

A variation of this position, called reverse_cowgirl_position, is when the recipient is facing the feet of the other, instead of their head.

Not to be confused with

• reverse_missionary_position, which is similar but both are lying down
• reverse_saint_position, where instead of on their back one of the characters is kneeling
