BDSM is an acronym standing for Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism. Discipline was later expanded to refer to acts of domination, and submission.

BDSM is usually Explicit. This tag should never be applied to Safe-rated posts.

For tagging purposes, this may be consensual or somewhat non-consensual. The tag is for cases when there are clear sexual or fetishistic undertones present.

Note that it is difficult or nearly impossible in some cases to tell consent from an image, especially with role-playing. Use your best judgement in whether the BDSM tag should apply.

Used most often when:

• At least one character is done up in sexual bondage.
• Two characters are participating in a dominant/submissive relationship during sex (i.e. master-slave, owner-pet).
• A character is engaging in masochistic sex (i.e. taking sexual pleasure from being spanked or whipped).
• Similarly, many images where someone is displaying sadistic tendencies (i.e. taking sexual pleasure from whipping or torturing someone) are also tagged with BDSM.
