eyestalks

Eyestalks are movable stalks or protrusions that extend an eye away from an animal's body, common in crustaceans (like crabs, shrimp, lobsters) and some mollusks (like snails), giving them a wider field of vision and better predator detection, sometimes even housing other sensory organs or hormones. They function like mobile periscopes, allowing the creature to see around obstacles and independently scan the environment.
