But that's true! Pokemon are dangerous creatures with powerful attacks, each of which can cause irreparable harm, including to people. Pokemon trainers, regardless of their camp (those who "love" pokemon and those who use them as a tool for victories) take a great risk when going out to catch them :)

Also, within the AU, there are both official competitions, with clearly defined rules and a list of acceptable attacks, and underground/unofficial competitions, financed by illegal, but very powerful organizations. At such "competitions", Pokemon deaths are common, and usually the "pokephile" camp does not participate in them, but for our trainer Leo, this is the only available option - he was suspended from official competitions many years ago, as James from the former Team Rocket mentioned in one of our previous works

A small but important detail - the earpiece in the picture. Actually, this is a reimagining of the canon, since, for example, the main characters in the series could easily stand in the path of Pokémon attacks or right next to them, getting away with just minor bruises, and even that only in the worst-case scenario. But that’s nonsense! The first attack from an enemy Pokémon would’ve sent the main characters straight to the ICU. So, in this version, all battles are fought remotely - the trainer isn’t present on the battlefield with the Pokémon. And that’s logical.

Well, despite the franchise being generally very cheerful and family friendly, there's plenty of clues pointing towards shady stuff happening in the background. Take Mewtwo for example, it's literally the result of genetic experimentation. Pokemon at the end of the day are also living creatures subject to iliness or death, and humans are humans, with our good and our bad.
