Rainy day

Why does rain encourage contemplation and melancholy? Is it due to the dim, subdued environment? Is it the gentle, rhythmic patter of raindrops? Or maybe it's due to being incentivizied to stay indoors and unwind? In any case, Marble Pie strikes me as an introspective type of pony that would appreciate this part of the Nature's cycles.
