Well in terms of quality it's really about the upscaler, I use 4x-UltraSharp.

I mean more in terms of character consistency and image smoothness without artefacts or deformations. Your Nick Wilde x Finnick post seems particularly tricky

It's mostly just a lot of inpainting and manual editing until it looks right.

For getting a smooth style such as in this image and 61594, would you say it's more about selecting the base model (+ perhaps LORAs) or the prompting, or both? (And/or aided by the upscaler?)

A good base model definitely helps, I used Prefect Pony XL v3 for this one. I didn't do anything special with the prompting apart from using the default Pony tags (scores, source, rating). The only LoRA I used was the Pebble character LoRA and then upscaled to finish to get the quality.
