My mind went for a TF trigger concept for freddy transforming someone, and then they wake up in the new body, due to always wondering if the girl from the 4th movie wound up at just a small squished bug stain in reality, since what he does in the dreams carry over. And if so, that mean Freddy could potentially just transform his victims instead of just killing them, leaving them trapped for some long term horror.
