Experiment using DAMN (https://civitai.com/models/428826?modelVersionId=505741) one of the more usable realism pony merges. Realism is not a style I'm usually very into but this was a fun experiment on finding a balance between realism and 2.5D. Unfortunately due to severe lack of real life Pokemon training data, realistic attempts tend to look uncanny or like plushies. If you ever tried a realistic merge you know about the pitfalls, usually composition takes a hit, it's very biased towards humans, and they tend to overbake the image.
Using it as a refiner is probably also very viable. I recommend to keep using your PDXL style/artist lora combos as usual, and then lowering their strengths during inpainting/refining.
