Monsters often 'obtain' humans to keep in their lairs, either by grabbing them from villages and roads or having them willingly wander into their domain. When paired with a sapient their offspring are known to have vastly increased intelligence. Monsters are known to keep their captures alive until they are freed, or until natural causes take hold. Don't count on this though, as it has been studied that monsters are surprisingly good caretakers. If intelligent monsters are seen it needs to be reported to the nearest Guild with red priority immediately.
