Coal had historically a resource that Raythan didn't thogut twice about given they didn't had the need, while some used it because it kept bonfires lit for longer, others simply didn't think that the efford of getting them were esencial for survival... until the Industrial Revolution. As Raythan now are 3 years into the Industrial Revolution they realzed that the resource that they once frowne upon now is one of the two critical resources to keep their steam engines runnin, the other beeing dead plant biomass from the farms.

At the contrary than Vita (water fruit's) farmers, coal miners are not excepted from military service and they handle harash work conditions and there been serval incidents angaist negligent mine masters who's job is to guarantiee the safty of the operation and the production going, something that both females critize and males tend to seek to cut the Mine Master's throat. Nontherless the miners tend to take pride of his job even with their risks attached, even when they argue that the payment could be a bit better.
