ONSEN — THE BEARSERKER: Surface Breach

Onsen was never supposed to reach the surface.

The containment capsule wasn’t just built to imprison him. It was built to survive him. Reinforced plating, suppression fields, neural locks, emergency kill-switches, all of it designed around one horrifying assumption:

If Onsen breaks loose, the city becomes a crater.

Then the fusion started.

Deep inside the lab, the scientists tried to force-fuse a powerful Eldritch Monarch into his body, using Onsen like a living containment shell. The process wasn’t complete. Brad and Buckshot interrupted it before the Monarch could fully overwrite him.

That saved Onsen.

Barely.

Now he’s on the surface, raw, changed, and furious. His armor is burning from the inside. His head is wreathed in flame, his roar splitting the sky as the ruined city trembles around him. He isn’t thinking clearly anymore. A prisoner inside his own rage, holding back something worse by a thread.

The only part of the Monarch that fully manifested are the four glowing scythe-tentacles protruding from the portal in his armored back. They stretch wide like living execution blades, black at the core and burning with raw energy. They don’t move like limbs. They move like weapons with a mind behind them.

But the Monarch hasn’t won yet.

Onsen’s fading willpower is still fighting it. Every time he resists, the portal in his back flickers and snaps shut slightly. Every time his sanity slips, it tears open wider.

The surrounding Eldritch parasites sense the Monarch inside him and try to gather around him like worshippers.

Bad idea.

Onsen’s fury burns so hot that their own tendrils start charring alive, curling, blackening, and crumbling before they can even touch him. He’s become a walking furnace of corrupted power and wounded instinct.

Brad and Buckshot are the only ones close enough to slow him down.

But stopping him isn’t the same as saving him.

That’s where Jolene comes in.

She isn’t physically on the battlefield. She’s receiving live intel from Brad and Buckshot while tearing through schematics, stolen lab data, and half-burned containment blueprints from a remote command setup. While the others buy time, Jolene is building the only thing that might keep Onsen alive after he’s brought down:

an emergency extraction unit.

Not a weapon.

Not a cage.

A rescue system.

Its job is to contain Onsen the second Brad and Buckshot weaken him enough — locking down the portal in his back, isolating the Monarch’s influence, and preventing the scythe-tentacles from dragging the rest of the entity through.

Jolene knows the timing has to be perfect. Too early, and the unit gets shredded. Too late, and Onsen’s mind is gone.

So now the mission has two goals:

Stop Onsen before he levels the city.

Save him before the Monarch finishes wearing his body like armor.
