Valentine's Night | Nick Wilde x Pawbert Lynxley

The lights of the Zootopia Police Department gradually dimmed in the night, with only the office of Chief Bogo still illuminated on the top floor. As Pawbert Lynxley and Nick Wilde walked side by side out of the station's main entrance, they both let out a long, synchronized sigh. The air was filled with the sweet scent of Valentine's Day, a stark contrast to the heart-pounding undercover operation not long ago.

"Finally, it's over, that damn 'club,'" Nick stretched lazily, his red fox tail swaying leisurely behind him. "I've had enough of that cheap perfume and fake, insincere smiles."

Pawbert didn't respond, only gently taking Nick's hand. As the former "outcast" of the Lynxley family, he understood the weight of disguise and masks better than anyone. But at this moment, he was no longer the Pawbert struggling under the shadow of his family. He was Nick Wilde's partner and—his lover.

"Let's go home," Nick turned his head slightly, his green eyes sparkling with a sly yet tender light. "I've prepared a special surprise for you, little lynx."

On the way home, the two walked side by side along the softly lit streets of Zootopia. The evening breeze carried the cloyingly sweet fragrance of Valentine's flowers, gently rustling Pawbert's gray-white fur. He glanced sideways at the red fox beside him—his partner, his love. Nick still wore that signature, slightly roguish smile, but deep within those green eyes now resided a tenderness reserved only for him.

"Tired, my little lynx?" Nick, noticing his gaze, let his tail lightly brush against Pawbert's leg, his voice low and magnetic.

Pawbert shook his head. Although the mental tension from the undercover mission hadn't completely faded, Nick's presence acted like a soothing balm. He remembered in the club, how Nick had to navigate conversations with ill-intentioned patrons to cover for him, even using his own body to block hands reaching for Pawbert. In that moment, Pawbert truly realized how much possessiveness and protectiveness lay beneath the surface of this usually nonchalant fox.

"I was just thinking," Pawbert spoke softly, a barely perceptible huskiness in his voice, "if it weren't for you, I might never have shed the label of 'the Lynxley family outcast.'"

Nick stopped walking, turned to face him, and looked at him earnestly. "Listen, Pawbert. You were never anyone's outcast. You are one of the finest officers in the Zootopia Police Department, my partner whom Nick Wilde would guard with his life. As for the past…" He reached out, gently smoothing the faint lines between Pawbert's brows with his fingertips. "…let it stay in the past. Tonight, you just need to be yourself, be my Pawbert."

These words flowed into Pawbert's heart like a warm current. He said no more, only clasped Nick's hand tighter, allowing himself to be led toward the warm home that belonged to them both.

The apartment hallway was quiet, filled only with the soft echoes of their footsteps. Nick took out his key, and before inserting it into the lock, he glanced back at Pawbert, winked, and curled his lips into a mysterious smile. "Ready? For your surprise."

Pawbert nodded, watching as Nick turned the key and pushed the door open.

The moment the apartment door swung open, Pawbert froze.

The living room lights were set to an intimate warm yellow, and the air was fragrant with the scent of rose essential oil. A path of crimson rose petals led down the hallway to the bedroom, extending right to the bathroom door. The bathtub was already filled with warm water, a few petals floating on the surface, the rising steam making the entire space hazy and dreamlike.

"This is…" Pawbert was momentarily at a loss. Accustomed to the coldness and distance of the Lynxley family, such direct and intense romance made his heart race unexpectedly.

"Valentine's gift, part one," Nick embraced him from behind, his chin resting lightly on Pawbert's shoulder. "I know you hate the smells from undercover work. Take a bath, relax. I'll be waiting in the bedroom."

Pawbert nodded, his gray-white fur glowing softly in the light. He stepped into the bathroom and immersed himself in the warm water. The water enveloped his body, washing away the fatigue and pretense of the past days. Closing his eyes, the undercover scenes involuntarily surfaced—the dark dealings hidden beneath the club's glamorous façade, the risky moments when Nick almost got exposed while protecting him…

When he dried off and walked into the bedroom wrapped in a towel, the sight before him took his breath away once more.

The bed was covered in deep red rose petals. Nick reclined against the headboard, wearing only sleep pants, a whole rose twirling between his fingers. The usual playful cunning in his eyes was gone, replaced only by profound affection and gentle possessiveness.

"Come here, my little lynx," Nick reached out to him.

Pawbert obediently approached, and as soon as he sat on the edge of the bed, Nick pulled him into his arms. A hot, lingering kiss descended, carrying the scent of roses and Nick's own distinctive, slightly aggressive aroma.

"Mmm…" Pawbert let out a soft moan, his hands instinctively climbing to Nick's shoulders. He could feel Nick's heartbeat, strong and rapid, just like during their first mission together as partners.

Nick's kisses traveled from his lips down to his neck and collarbone. His fingers deftly untied the towel, tracing over the smooth, firm muscles of Pawbert's back.

"You know," Nick's voice was husky, textured with desire, "in that club, seeing those guys look at you with disgusting eyes, I almost couldn't stop myself from starting a fight."

Pawbert chuckled softly, his fingers threading through Nick's thick red fur. "Jealous?"

"Absolutely," Nick admitted without hesitation. "You're my partner, my love. Only I get to touch you."

With that, he gently turned Pawbert beneath him, their bodies pressing close together. Pawbert could clearly feel the change in Nick's body, the burning heat making him go weak all over.

"Nick…" Pawbert's voice trembled slightly, not from fear, but from anticipation.

"Don't be afraid, leave it to me," Nick kissed his forehead, his movements exceedingly tender. Pawbert held onto Nick's waist, careful not to let anything go wrong or hurt him. Nick relaxed his body, guiding Pawbert to enter him slowly. The sensation of being filled made him sigh contentedly.

When they were fully joined, Nick let out a long, satisfied sigh. He cupped Pawbert's face with both hands, sealing his claim with the deepest of kisses, trying to possess this little lynx who belonged to him alone. Then, through the rhythm of their bodies, they brought each other to the peak of pleasure and an unprecedented warmth.

After their climax, they lay embraced, their fur marked by each other's presence.

Pawbert gently combed through the fur on Nick's back with his fingertips and asked softly, "Are you okay, Nick?"

Nick shook his head, burying his face in Pawbert's chest. "Of course… little lynx, all of this feels wonderful to me."

After a moment of silence, Pawbert suddenly spoke. "Nick, do you remember when you were muzzled as a kid?"

Nick's body tensed almost imperceptibly before relaxing again. "Of course I remember. That was the first time I learned that sincerity and trust could lead to harm… but just when I felt most helpless, you showed up. Since then, I've known that no matter what happens, there's a dear little lynx supporting me from behind, helping me move forward."

"Me too… Nick," Pawbert's voice held a hint of bitterness. "In the Lynxley family, because my fur was too light and my personality wasn't 'ferocious' enough, I was always seen as an outsider. They said, 'You're not like a Lynxley,' and my own family wouldn't even give me a place to stand. I tried so hard to prove myself, craving my father's approval, and nearly lost myself completely."

Nick tightened his arms, holding him closer. "But it's different now. You're one of the finest officers in the Zootopia Police Department, my partner, and most importantly, the one I love most. You don't need to prove anything to anyone, and you don't need to wear the 'Lynxley' mask. To me, you just need to be yourself."

Pawbert lifted his head, looking into Nick's eyes. In those green pupils, he saw complete acceptance and devoted love.

"Thank you, Nick," Pawbert's voice was slightly choked. "Thank you for letting me know that being 'different' is still worthy of love."

Nick smiled, leaning down to gently kiss the tip of his nose. "And thank you, my little lynx. Thank you for letting me know that a fox can also be trusted, and can also have a home."

Outside the window, Valentine's fireworks bloomed in the night sky, brilliant but fleeting. But inside the room, two souls once scarred by life had finally found an eternal refuge in each other's embrace.
