Wyverns of Midria: Appearances aside, what's the difference between dragons and wyverns? Wyverns are considered a high feral - a privileged position sitting somewhere in between feral and the sovereign species. They can understand speech, but are limited to body or sign language in return. In most kingdoms, high ferals enjoy a type of quasi-citizenship role with judicial protections (and consequences). There's no such thing as a "wild dragon", but wild wyverns can be found in remote lands. Non-wild ones will always have a gold ring on their horn with identification engraved in.

Dragons, on the other hand, can speak just fine, but rarely live among people, instead claiming their own territory. They may visit, or accept visitors, but for most Midrians, wyverns are the draconic type they'll interact with most of the time.

Most wyverns are found either in the manors of aristocrats or elite militants serving as wyvern riders (whom remain with their bonded wyvern once retired). Some fringe, smaller clans revolve their identity around wyverns, making it a point to 1:1 their population with them. For others, there's often a wyvern or two working for whichever guild they belong to... And many are quite slutty and down to mess around in the guildhall, as seen here, assuming you don't mind being a tunnel buddy with your guildmates whom most certainly had the same idea.

Ah, the elegant honks of a regal beast.

Some lil' easter eggs in the background. Portraits include such Midrian VIPs as Guildmaster Pekins, Mistress Lythistris and Magus Skarlena, from left to right.
