Description

"With the elite four defeated it was time to face Steven Stone, the champion. I've used Blaziken, Absol, and Gardevoir already, so now was the time to bust out my secret weapon.
Instead of going for immunity on my Zangoose I instead opted for its hidden ability Toxic boost. Set up with poison before entering the final run, Zangoose had a +50% bonus to the power of her physical attacks. Combined with the move Facade which also doubles its power when the user has a non-volatile status effect, and is a normal type so Zagoose gets another 1.5x STAB bonus on top.. means Zangoose can power through even the toughest opponents.

First up was Skarmory, a steel/flying type so a normal type move is not effective. Still one-shot it. Well, not exactly, it had sturdy so it survived on 1 HP, which let Steven use a full restore (first heal of the entire elite four/champion run). Zangoose then blasted it down to 1 HP again, then finished it off the next turn. His next pokemon Claydol got eviscerated. Aggron was up after The steel/rock dual type meant facade was only doing 1/4th the damage it normally would. Still, facade brought it down to just under half HP, and with Aggron's sturdy now broken the follow up attack finished it off. Cradily and Armaldo also fell in one shot without getting to do a thing. Then it came time to face Steven's ace: his Metagross, which in the ORAS remakes mega-evolves. Zangoose took it out in one shot even against the steel type resistance and huge defence base state Mega-Metagross has.

And that was that, Zangoose blasted through Stevens team and took the championship."
