I re-read that sentence 5 times and I can't figure out what you're trying to say. You seems to talk about tag categories, but I don't understand where the problem lies at all. Even then, night_fury is a tag that exist, it's a subset of dragons and toothless is a night_fury, so we ought to find a mean to introduce that implication. Unless you'll blow my mind with a real weird site mechanic that prevent that on a technical level.

I disagree that we should wait for e621 to make that clarification, I feel we should make choices that make sense for us for those 2 reasons:
1. There's a general sentiment of irritation (if not hatred) towards e6ai users (Or, at least, an apparent one strong enough for people to conceal they are e6ai users on the e621 forum). I've the strong feeling that they are not above making choices that are not in e621 interest if it means to make e6ai's life miserable; just out of spite.
2. Just like e621 has drift away from its Booru roots, we are bound to drift away from e621

That said, I have no strong feeling about it, so either way is fine with me.

if a character is being referenced in some way that isn't the actual whole character then how is the night_fury coming from

one few exception is if a whole species is being referenced
like a poster of a pikachu or a renamon carpet

or examples of sorts is if a character has gone through transformation of species, which then the "original" species don't apply

this is tag talk which should just apply going onto the forums and just ask the opinion on a tag change proposition
you don't have to state yourself as e6ai user, if it's not truly relevant to the conversation then don't bring it up

I've seen that line "go convince the e621 forum's crowd" used too often, and most of the time it just kill the conversation outright. It sucks up all the oxygen this forum needs to really take off.

Being the same company has no impact whatsoever. As long as both website are handled the way they are, they will continue to accumulate differences until it becomes too much of a hassle to even try to harmonize tags.

Add the fact that the site couldn't run without the users, and that the users have motivations that don't align with the owners¹, you get a situation of 100% of the effort to stay harmonized is done by e6ai volunteers.

TLDR: Both site will become distinct just like e621 and Booru became distinct; it's not a question of if, it's a question of when. And personally, I prefer play with the tags *now* while the website is young, the artworks are plenty yet not unwieldingly numerous, and that a lot of e621 tags are not populated — making the site very easy to mold into something better.

¹I assume the owners are not Anti-AI otherwise e6ai would not exist
