if there is something is unique to balls for equines i would like to hear but in any case this tag could be just very redundant

Equine_balls don't even have a wiki entry on e621 and i don't see anything special about them aside from normal balls but bigger.
Bovine_balls on the other hand are visibly different, which could warrant them having individual tag
But yeah, Equine_balls, just like any other should implicate balls

people are really just putting equine_balls to join the run with equine everything of pussy and penis and anuses or whatever
i believe the approach would be better on being aliasing since there is no difference on design
