Topic: Tag alias: boss_monster -> boss_monster_(undertale)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #61266 boss_monster -> boss_monster_(undertale) is pending approval.

Reason: The "boss_monster" tag and the "boss_monster_(undertale)" tag mean the same thing, right? Theoretically "boss_monster" could be much broader and apply to all kinds of video game characters, but it seems like it's only being used specifically for Undertale characters. Which one of these do we want to be the main tag and which the alias?

e621 aliases boss_monster to a disambiguation, although all the other entries that aren't the undertale tag are artist tags. Other than this, there is a card game called Boss Monster. Something I've actually played IRL, although there are no tagged posts for this on either site so it's hard to say if that will ever be used. There's technically a door open for this but I'm not too sure.

although there are no tagged

I dunno how I feel about it; The literal meaning of Boss_Monster shouldn't be a specie, it should be some king of lore. After all there's a ton of characters that are monsters and game bosses.

That said, lore tags are already TWYK and not TWYS, I doubt we will ever use that tag in a literal way. As for Boss_Monster as a franchise: the card game is not especially cathering to furries, I doubt we will ever have a tag-collision there. Worst case scenario, we unalias andd disambiguate when it'll happen.

the fact we have 2 distinct tags for the same usage is a problem though, and I fell we should go ahead with the change.
