I think Vaporeon hasn't quite grasped the concept of being a nun. Or maybe she's copying the nuns from Dieter Bohlen's movie. :-)

I tried to find the movie you mentioned, but couldn't find anything. XD

            This should be the film:

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieter:_Der_Film
            https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dieter+der+film

The film is a bit of a comedy and a biography of Dieter Bohlen, singer of Modern Talking. Dieter makes fun of quite a few things, including Thomas Anders' girlfriend, Nora. In one scene, Nora forbids her husband from performing because there are women on stage. Dieter persuades her by saying they're all just nuns. And yes, they were wearing nuns' habits, skin-tight and made of patent leather, if I remember correctly. In other words, a dominatrix looked like an innocent wallflower compared to them. :-)

Why does this look like it was converted from a Jpg into a Gif and then back into a Jpg? I would imagine this would be a 10th of it's current filesize if it remained a Gif.

I'm 99% sure this is a filter and not a compression algorithm.

Good catch. Downscaling, dithering, and posterization, followed by nearest-neighbor upscaling, to counteract bilinear filtering that browsers and image viewers often introduce when scaling low-resolution images. That way it is kept blocky. I like the aesthetic personally, and it removes visibility of many artifacts, which I think is pretty cool.

I do love the look. But if you uploaded this as a gif file, it would look identical (Or slightly better) and load faster, right?

            • Mmmm, that crunchy turn-of-the-millenium image compression. Brings ya right back to the days of VCLart and web rings.
