ossicone

Ossicones are horn-, or antler-, -like protuberances on the heads of giraffids, and the climacoceratids. Ossicones are similar in appearance and use to the horns of antelope and cattle. However, unlike their horns, ossicone derived from ossified ("turned into bone/bony tissue or calcified") cartilage rather than bone. They also often remain covered in skin and fur, rather than horny keratin.
