back muscles

General Muscle Guide

The back muscles is an informal grouping of multiple muscles and tendons along the back, including the Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi, Extensor Spinae, Teres Major & Minor, Rhomboids and posterior head of the Deltoids.

These muscles generally contribute to shoulder blade movement as well as support and mobility of the spinal column. They also help maintain the upright posture and anchor other bones such as the shoulder blades to the spine.

Back muscles are most easily visible thru the roughly diamond/kite shaped regions created by the Trapezius and/or Extensor Spinae when they are well developed, and less commonly furrows created by the boundaries of the Deltoids, Latissimus and uncovered portions of the Teres.

If the back muscles are well developed and visible in the picture then it should be tagged.
