frill (anatomy)

An anatomical structure most often found on lizards, dragons and other similar creatures. Often positioned at the neck and on top of the head and forms a membranous surface.

However, while almost all are membranous, not all frills are. Specifically, bone frills generally aren't membranous and instead are hardened structures made of bone.

Often similar in appearance to the fin of some fishes.

Commonly seen on reptilian/scalie characters and some Pokémon.
