Species: reptile

Reptiles are animals in the class Reptilia. They are characterized by breathing air, laying shelled eggs, and having skin covered in scales and/or scutes. Reptiles are classically viewed as having an ectothermic or "cold-blooded" metabolism, meaning they cannot generate their own body heat and must instead rely on external sources, often engaging in basking behavior. They are tetrapods, either having four limbs or being descended from four-limbed ancestors.
