Species: lizard

Lizards encompass all squamate reptiles (reptiles with overlapping scales) who are not snakes. They are incredibly widespread, ranging across all continents except Antarctica, as well as most oceanic island chains. Lizard species vary wildly in size. Almost all lizards are quadrupedal, but there is an exception in the legless lizard, which has a limbless snake-like body.

Lizards are known for being able to shed their tails to escape predators, though not all lizards can do this.
